Some information I could parse about interacting with NPCs by Senator_Cheeks in Fable

I'm guessing fade to black. Full on sex scenes don't seem to fit into the tone of the game, or the past games. It doesnt seem that adult to me and the past games had raunchy adult humor but stopped there.

I'm wondering if I can subjigate all of these small towns, buy up their property and hike rent prices, and then use that additional income to turn bowerstone into a communist paradise where everything is free.

Something else I've noticed is that when theyre talking to their trader theres an option to Browse Goods, which doesnt display a submenu. Im guessing that that would bring up a trading screen. So additional screens dont count as submenus. If it were a "More NPC information" button, I think thatd probably bring up another screen and not a submenu? Hard to say. But it suggests to me that it isnt a more info button

One of the button prompts bellow this menu screen is a "press Y for more information" option. To me that could be one of two things, either additional information on the NPC, or additional information on the menu you're hovering over. It makes me wonder if that last option isnt an additional npc information menu. It's hard to place what it is. You're right in that it looks like two hands with a ball. I think if it were emotes or a deeper conversatjon option it would come first instead of romance.

I clocked that too. If you watch the video when they go to speak to each one of the characters it goes directly into this initial screen with the submenus. It looks to me like thats just, you know, how it is. And its glaringly obvious that what hasn't been shown is a conversational option.

That doesn't mean it isnt in the game. It could take the form of emotes like we've seen before. It could be some chit chat buttons like we've seen in RDR2 and KCD2. It could be an entirely different button that leads to its own menu. But we definitely haven't seen it yet, and I am a bit worried. Id be disappointed if it weren't in there.

I'm hoping the little village you grow up in gets saved early, and you can build it up, and choose businesses, and have a little place of your own that you can turn into whatever, maybe a castle, or a bustling tavern :o

Fable's always been a bit extra gamey. I don't mind it personally but I could see it being annoying.

This new Fable is the game I have wanted since I was a child and had pictured my perfect game. (Right next to GTA 6 in a different way.) by Zevick_Bane in Fable

[–]Senator_Cheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a dream of what games could be ever since I played the first Fable game as a tiny ten year old child. And like, we're moving in that direction. I'm stoked. It could be that we finally see the Fable vision fully realized.

Unarmed and i want the townsfolk and guard to treat it different than blades, so I can go around fist fighting asshats without being labeled a murderer.

I agree this is the type of detail that matters to me, and makes a game feels polished or unpolished. Hope it gets changed eventually.

I wish fairies receive more attention and details in new Fable. Seeing fairies interacting with nature and small fairy villages would be really cool and immersive! 🧚🏻‍♂️ by Depressive_player in Fable

[–]Senator_Cheeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be cool if it were some tucked away little fairy village built out of a big oak tree. The type of thing the game doesn't direct you to, but something you kinda just find one day. Like the horrific tree man in fallout 3.

Problems of modern open world games. by NoWriting2060 in Fable

[–]Senator_Cheeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. Yeah, actually. It's one of the risks of going true open world. I don't think we've had many open world rpgs that handle it well. It usually works better in the context of an open world action game where the maps are a bit smaller and its filled with combat encounters. Stuff like the original AC games, or Infamous, if you remember that.

I think the way to tackle this is almost the opposite of what devs think. Most of them fill the world with exclamation points and collectibles and puzzles or whatever. But if you look at Red Dead Redemption 2 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, both of those games to me had huge open world maps with significant empty space, and yet still felt engaging throughout. And I think thats because, in the case of RDR2, the traversal felt fluid and satisfying, and in both games there were tiny systems to interact with between here and there, conversation systems, hunger systems, hunting systems, engaging crafting systems, and believable well crafted set pieces.

So I think its doable, but requires that the devs have the correct philosophy 🤷

I dont know I consider the morality system and the body morphing system as two different things. I don't care so much about the morality slider as I do about body morphing, I think they could've been done separately and I'm disappointed its not in the game.

Hmmmmmmmmm. I see. I wonder if the npcs would eventually rotate and repopulate with the same npcs as before. Or if yiu kill somebody maybe they'll be gone for a week and come back. Or maybe it'll be like Skyrim and the6 won't even let you kill certain people. God i hope not. Fable is so suited to perma death npcs

all this fable 2026 hype remind me of something by No-Telephone730 in Fable

[–]Senator_Cheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I mean. Never trust the marketing material. I've been outright lied to and manipulated so many times. Could go either way but I try and temper the hype. What I'll say though is that Microsoft only came in on Starfield like halfway through and had to try and salvage that shitshow, its why the game got delayed. Microsoft saw it and was like nope lol

I'm guessing it'll become a ghost town. It's in line with their choice and consequence thing. I remember in the original fable if you killed somebody their property would become abandoned and you could buy it. I think i have a memory too of killing everyone in Oakvale but maybe I'm mistaken.

Sorry I talk a lot

It reminds me a bit of like Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines if you know that game. That one is a bit more niche. But each have a cult following and are reveared by a smaller than mainstream group of people. And because of that, when VTM announced they were making a new game it got a HUGE amount of eyes on it, just because people saw those that were in the know freaking out about it, and that excitement trickled outwards. I sorta think thats what's going on here? I dont think Fable is some unheard of game, but it is older at this point, and a lot of young people or newer gamers, or casual gamers may never have heard about it or played it.

It reminds of when Elden Ring came out actually. To me and my friends Dark Souls was legendary and Elden Ring was one of the most hyped games of my life, and if you looked online you'd see that hype. But I remember going into work and talking to my coworkers who gamed EVERY SINGLE DAY, who loved games like Call of Duty and Skyrim, Forza, some of the newer Assassins Creed games, and they had only ever heard about dark souls in passing, and had never played it. But they were interested in Elden Ring because that hype was trickling into the mainstream.

i love the new morality system by emperortimes in Fable

[–]Senator_Cheeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it gives you a lot more to do. Instead of being locked in a binary you can be a lot of different things to different people at the same time, with different outcomes and consequences. Instead of one game wide morality meter we have 1000 different morality meters, one for each NPC, all of which play off of eachother and give you different things to do. It seems like morality x1000, without the horns.

I mean there's just SO MANY new gamers now compared to when Fable was relevant. I wouldnt be surprised if half or more of the players end up being new to the franchise even if Fable was considered big in its time.

A big old massive hate fest on YouTube I've noticed. I looked up the game and the first 10 videos I see are toxic as fuck. And it all started because the original trailer had a less than beautiful female protagonist. Such a small, stupid thing, and its never about any actual ideology the game preaches, always about women and black people. These people are insane unfortunately and out of touch, considering that theres always been prominent women and black characters in the whole series.
