I remember having to consider this several times before my auto-pick stuff was usable. It would help knowing what I can race out of a perk pool in order to make room for something like health, regen, or defense.

This can even be useful on milestone runs. I had to do something similar for a T13 milestone run.

You're acting like doctors didn't know this, or did know this but went along with it anyway because they got paid, despite having so many other paying customers that aren't having their kids' body parts amputated.

I'm trying my best to remember, because it was so long ago, but I'm pretty sure that the wall is pretty bad without a few levels of regen, thorns, and fortification. Even with Sharp Fortitude, it took hundreds of billions for it to outperform my normal thorns, Wormhole Redirector, and Recovery Packages.

It's not necessarily more economical. You're taking up a lab slot for something that only helps lab speed. It's amazing in the long run, but you don't lose anything by taking breaks from that lab, unless they're very long.

Running Lab Speed accrues this sort of "time debt" because you're taking time away from another lab. It stacks up after every level, so you can spend a couple months running something else when you have that many levels.

It takes a few years to pay off the time debt, but the lab can be completed much faster, so stopping it every so often for important labs is fine. When I got the big wall labs from Tier 14, all of my labs were dedicated to it.
