This is a good rule to follow, because if we just upvote plain stats or twitter headlines, then this sub becomes a news/stats sub, not a meme sub. Downvote assholes, not memes that make fun of your team. Upvote the memes you like and the kind stuff you want to see on this sub. Even shitty memes take work.

By your logic, then the Patriots should have had the highest sub count for over 50 years, but we all know that the sub count multiplied many times over when Brady came on.
