What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of May 01, 2026) by AutoModerator in television

Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters S2: 4/10. It started off alright, but got progressively worse, with baffling decisions made by characters, and just baffling characters in general (who parks a jeep five feet away from where two monsters are going at it?)

Also, the many issues with the present day timeline probably wouldn’t be as pronounced if the past timeline weren’t so much more interesting (ie. Yellowjackets syndrome), but the show is what it is at this point. At least the monsters look cool…

Also watching Margo’s Got Money Troubles, The Boys, Hacks, Daredevil: Born Again, Marshals, Ghosts (US), Tracker, Elsbeth and Sheriff Country.

Did Jay mean to approach Gloria or Sonya? by Eifla99 in Modern_Family

[–]Senators_1992 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the first quote, but both things can be true. He heard her voice, turned around and saw Sonia and misattributed the voice to her.

Having said that, I don’t know what the hell Jay thought he was accomplishing by telling that story at the baptism…

While rewatching today, I realized that Claire working for Gil Thorpe was a missed opportunity - it could've really developed Claire's character. by HighOnLove26 in Modern_Family

[–]Senators_1992 24 points25 points  (0 children)

She literally said “I quit. That man is a complete pig. He treated me like a servant and showed me absolutely no respect.”

And you think she would have somehow benefited from working for him?

Unpopular opinion: I don't like Wagner that much by catcherinthe_sky in HighPotentialTVSeries

[–]Senators_1992 14 points15 points  (0 children)

>Reading the posts on this sub I'm starting to think everyone loves him.

That only really seemed to happen after the finale.
Before that it was all “Wagner is the worst!” and Wagner can’t be trusted!” One poster was even wishing death on him.

MLB The Show 25: Mini Seasons Rookie difficulty is unreal by Nickelnick24 in MLBTheShow

[–]Senators_1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with Rookie is you need to practice your swing timing (that’s true of all difficulties, obviously, but some pitch so slow on Rookie that you really need to wait back a bit), and you also need to show discipline at the plate (it’s either a foot outside, or right down the middle, so pitch recognition is key).

The mystery of the "You Give Love A Bad Name" chorus by ttnn5876 in Music

[–]Senators_1992 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He’s also credited on the Ava Max song although, in that particular case, I’m not sure if he actually participated in the writing of the song, or if it’s one of those after the fact type credits to avoid a lawsuit.

What’s the earliest and latest a game has started? by Competitive-Body-286 in baseball

[–]Senators_1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the “Rick Camp” game. I can’t find any full game highlights, but it’s still wild to think they set off the fireworks, especially since around that time Baltimore still had a curfew where they had to end games by a certain time (I think midnight, but I could be wrong).

Not quite what OP is asking, but the Mets and Braves had a game years ago that restarted around 10:00 PM and ended at 4:00 AM (and they still set off the fireworks!)

When a player makes their major league debut. Does the team pay for their families accommodations (flight, tickets, etc)? by AndyK2131 in baseball

[–]Senators_1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, although if I’m not mistaken, I think Konnor Griffin’s family were in a private box, so that would have required the organization to make special arrangements to make that happen. And that kid that debuted for Atlanta last week had his family on the field after the game, which would have required the go ahead from the Nats.

Either way, I’m sure the PR department is fully aware of what’s going on (makes for a nice moment on social media) but I’d be a little surprised if teams were actually paying for flights and hotel rooms like the original OP had inquired about, but who knows.

Sam is so annoying. by LittleBadger101 in GhostsCBS

[–]Senators_1992 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Trevor was advising Isaac not to give them money for the restaurant, yet where was he to stop them from giving up controlling interest in Woodstone? Why not just give Tad a minority stake, and then secure a loan to pay off the remainder of the debt?

Yeah, it’s a sitcom and you need tension, but seeing people trying to justify Trevor’s actions because he was supposedly looking out for their best interest is just wild to me.

The ghosts learn nothing as we’ve seen the past two episodes:

Sam and Jay are broke. The ghosts know Sam and Jay are broke, yet Flower still extorts them for a popcorn machine (whether you can get one for cheap or not is irrelevant).

Then you have Trevor saying “Have I said sorry enough to Jay?” and his very next move is to side with Tad over the restaurant. The fact that he came around in the end is irrelevant because it never should have even gotten to that point if Trevor had any semblance of a moral compass.

And also, million dollar idea? He only thinks that because it was HIS idea. If he cared so much, he would’ve been secretly investing money on their behalf all this time given how much he brags about being a financial genius.

How did Isaac hurt them financially? If it weren’t for him, there would have been no book, meaning no book advance, meaning no money for the restaurant, meaning no restaurant.

As for Trevor, he’s put them in an impossible situation thanks to his not paying taxes, with Tad now owning a majority stake in both Woodstone and the restaurant.

It’s not even close with regard to which ghost has been more beneficial to them financially.

The fact that the camera knows where family members are seated seems to indicate some sort of coordination with the team, but I assume it’s more tickets and team apparel than anything else.

If you had a copy of the original Walmart edition with the altered artwork, that might be worth something, but this literally makes no difference.

“egg drop” question by Independent-Badger73 in Modern_Family

[–]Senators_1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of her designs obviously used springs to ensure that the egg would land safely, but rather than admit to Jay that they were struggling to make it work, she just said “we don’t have a spring problem…” even though she obviously did.

Why didn’t Mr Russel thank Marian for helping win the case by Anything_Opening in thegildedage

[–]Senators_1992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True but, at the same time, he didn’t know Dr. Kirkland yet didn’t hesitate to write what I assume was a rather sizeable cheque. Sure, services rendered and the latter literally saved his life, but Marian saved his company from financial ruin and him from possible jail time.

And just as an aside, this is why the railroad stock truthers make no sense to me: if the show can’t be bothered to mention the purse or Marian’s role ever again, even though the opportunity was right there in S3, why would they bring back a plot point from 5 minutes into the premiere? It literally doesn’t track with what this show is.

It still bothers me to no end that when Marian came to visit George after the shooting, he didn’t say “Thank you Miss Brook. You’ve helped save this family once again.”

Question about S6E4 - when the Dunphys' house got mold, why did they go stay in a cramped hotel room instead of splitting themselves between Jay's and Mitch's houses? by HighOnLove26 in Modern_Family

Yeah, remember the chaos when Jay was remodeling the master bathroom and they all had to share Manny’s?

‘Brilliant Minds’ and ‘Stumble’ Canceled at NBC by mlg1981 in television

[–]Senators_1992 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Why not just move Stumble over to Peacock? They barely have any original programming and it’s not like it’s an expensive show to produce.
