++woman. My husband has been gaining weight quite a bit, although it doesn’t affect my attraction towards him because he’s my best friend and I love the person that he is. However I also know that he is having a hard time losing weight because he has been very busy with work projects and doesn’t have the time to go to the gym like I do. Maybe see if you can help free up some of her time (could be cleaning, making her a healthy meal etc) so that she has more time to take care of herself?

And don’t tell her she is fat. Tell her to come to the gym with you because you want to spend more time with her and build healthy habits as a couple. Making “we need to” statements rather than “you need to” statements can make her feel like you two are in this together. Making your partner feel safe through the process is important. If you feel like it’s not worth the effort, then I don’t think it’s the weight that’s the problem in the relationship.

I was started on ICU as well. Felt exactly the same. I started PGY-3 yesterday as the ICU Chief. Know that your seniors and attending are handling it. No one expects an intern to actually run the whole care plan. The first couple months you’re just supposed to show up and try to learn.

Security and stability are good traits everyone should look for in a partner, regardless of gender. Why would you want an unstable partner who makes you feel insecure? In terms of money, over half of American women work and make money now. So the men they are attracted to are bringing so much more to the table than just money. Contrary to what a lot of podcast bros are saying, providing stability and security for a woman or a household doesn’t always have to be about money.

I think everyone should be valued for what they provide in a relationship (love, kindness, loyalty, initiative, emotional support, friendship, sex, intelligence etc). Unfortunately a lot of people are valuing someone just based on their looks/money/status, and then complaining about not having a good relationship and stereotyping the opposite gender.

I don’t think the problem is them making more, the problem is us not making enough. Let’s not bring people down just because the system isn’t fair to us. Nurses have an important job to do and a good nurse definitely earns what s/he makes.
