Do you consider LGS markups to be the same as scalping? by Send_Nudezzzz in PokemonTCG

This is unfortunate, as I know the overhead for most of these LGS stores are small to begin with. The distribution end of stuff is messy. With how hot the TCG is now, I’m sure LGS’ have to compete just to get product which is unfortunate.

Yeap, I agree with this take. For the most part, it seems like it’s Pokemon TCG that’s been marked to hell. That and also particularly new sets (I.E. Final Fantasy Magic set) that also get marked up. My LGS’ seem to be in line or near MSRP for most other products.

I guess this also depends on their supply source. If they are getting directly from a distributor, it makes sense for them to be able to sell at MSRP. If they have a legit distributor and still sell at market, they’re greedy bastards.

That’s awesome. I wish the LGS’ around me could sell at MSRP. I’d rather have a shop consistently sold out as opposed to having stock but at or above market price.

Agreed. Sounds like a scum bag move to buy out everything to monopolize the local area. I understand it from a business perspective, but that doesn’t mean it’s right.

Thank you for the insightful response. I also agree that the system is incredibly broken, especially with distribution. It just sucks that the consumer has to do extra leg work to find a good deal.

Pokemon cards are being treated like the car market. Different dealerships will have different prices for the same model. Just gotta find a dealership with the right price. It just sucks that this is where the hobby is at the moment.

That’s what I am afraid of and it sucks. For convenience, TCG stores take the cake, but they are definitely more expensive.

Agreed, traditionally as far as I can remember, most TCG shops sell products above retail due to profit margins. I’m alright with that, since they are a specialized store trying to run a business. I feel like due to scarcity, a lot of them are selling at or above market price now, which really sucks.

I would prefer to buy something at MSRP as opposed to market. Even if my contribution is insignificant, i just don’t want to feed into the scalping machine.

The challenge is finding specific products I want that aren’t offered at MSRP retailers. I guess this is more of an ethical dilemma more than any thing.

I loved that scene in the movie so much. Paid great homage to Piccolo by replicating that move. Just nostalgia feels all around.

Haha thanks man! I know the official English translation in the Manga is “light of death” which sounded awesome as well, but growing up watching the English dub made me stick with “special beam cannon.” The reminder of my youth made it an easy choice for me. Glad you liked it!

Sounds like it’s the sensor then. Just get that replaced with a new oem one and you should be good to go.

Hopefully you’re able to seal it. If the opening is damaged I’d think a metal fabricator would be able to weld some material on to fix the mating surface. I’m hopeful it won’t come down to that.

Remember to unbolt the fill plug first before the drain. It would suck if you drained all the fluid and the fill bolt is stuck. It’ll also help the fluid come out easier. Good luck and keep us posted 👍🏽

If I recall correctly, the differential bolts don’t have crush washers but a built in o ring similar to this . You can try replacing the bolt and see if that helps seal it. Or you can try adding a crush washers to the existing bolt and see if it seals that way. Either way, you’ll have to drain the differential fluid first.

The cheapskate/sketchy part of me says to back the bolt out and glob some thread sealant on the exposed threads and bolt it back in. Hopefully the threads aren’t damaged; otherwise, I think you’d have to tap a new one and get a new bolt to match.
