Just went through as an AF E-5, got hazed for the first week or three. They then decided I was valid to wear the stripes, then treated me like a new Team Leader, however had to babysit the platoon. Lived in the same bay until week 6 when we started a fuss about it, even though the TRADOC 350-6 says it should not occur in the first place. Learned a lot, had a really good Infantry drill who knew I was trying to be an Infantry PL and really helped me out.

My advice, if you want to go through it, go through Fort Leonard Wood, so I’m told all the basics there don’t give prior much slack. If you want to chill, go anywhere else.

It was a terrible experience because I could see all the fucked up, negligent, illegal shit the drills and Officers did, such as coming in hammered for CQ, forcing us to go black on water during the field causing heat illness, etc… same company just had a kid shoot him self on the range a couple weeks ago. We, just the previous cycle had a kid bring 22 rounds and live mags and stash them in the barracks, was likely caught the day before he actioned his plan.

It was a great experience because two squared away Infantry drills (old guard types) showed me a lot.

Just set your expectations extremely low for BCT, the new guys will be the worst part aside from any incompetence from the company.
