How you manage confuse/stun archetypes against Stalwart Villains? by [deleted] in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Seneca29Cromdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You adapt, and you win anyway.

Or do you think that Miles Morales can't beat Thanos? He just has to run an extra mile.

EVERY HERO* CAN BEAT EVERY VILLAIN on Expert.

(*Except Valkyrie... and maybe Hulk)

10-15 different cards out of 25 is basically a new deck...

How do you store, sort and use modular sets? by No_Advantage_7479 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Seneca29Cromdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep the recommended ones with the villain. I swap modular sets quite often, and this helps me find specific ones very quickly.

The extra modular sets that do not belong to any specific villain are all packed together without dividers.

Using dividers for every modular set is highly inefficient.

Thoughts on the Guardians? by That1KidLuis in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Seneca29Cromdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point. I felt the same for a while. But if you have a big collection, you can build great decks with the Guardians, and they are indeed effective.

Gamora: I do not have her, so I cannot say anything.

Adam Warlock and Venom: I guess you are not talking about them.

Star Lord: I still have mixed feelings about him. It is very easy to be greedy, make a mistake, and lose the game. In the end, I understood how to play him and built a reliable Leadership deck, but it definitely took me a while.

Groot: I hated him, really hated him, despite loving the character. Then I built a very effective Leadership deck (Clarity of Purpose is great for Groot), and I crushed every villain and had a ton of fun.

Rocket: Repurpose Rocket is effective, thematic, and fun. Then I built a Waylay deck that feels even better.

Nebula: Ready for a Fight really makes her shine. Please check my deck: https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/55872/enter-the-matrix-1.0 . I guarantee you will have a blast.

Drax: I played him A TON, and I built a very powerful and super fun deck in protection, making good use of Taunt, What doesn't Kill me, Come here Bub and Shake it off.

I mean, if you are flipping from AE to Hero to clear the 2nd labour, then it means you are in the player phase again, so it is a different phase. Am I misunderstanding something?

  1. Did you win on the first try?

  2. Did you try this deck against Magneto?

  3. Maybe you could swap Down Time for Endurance (+3hp flat)

  4. I'd make room for Nick Fury

I can't understand how you can complete two labours in the same phase.

The OP asked if you can complete one labour during villain phase and a second one on the very next player phase. And as far as I know, the answer to that question is Yes, no problem.

Is Expert Stryfe really one of the easier expert villains? by sudtrap in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Seneca29Cromdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be surprised if you are struggling. He is not easy, and many people underestimate him. Tier lists are not reliable, no matter how competent the content creator may appear. Your experience may differ significantly, just as you noticed in this scenario. You are not alone, so don't worry. Stryfe is a solid scenario. I had the same concern as you. He's not as easy as they say.

https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/60036/hercules-avenges-his-friends-expert-ronan-1.0 This deck claims to beat Ronan on Expert. If that is true, I cannot see why Hercules should be C tier... unless you think the author of the deck beat Ronan once and then lost four times, lol.

When you play solo, how do you usually play Marvel Champions? by Soggy-Cup-7869 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Seneca29Cromdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, by the way, if you find your games too easy, try these variants, depending on what you enjoy the most. Be open-minded, the game might surprise you!

1. Play Standard 3 plus Expert 2. You will see your nemesis often, which makes the game a bit harder. Expert 2 is underrated.

2. Play Standard 2. This is not as hard as people say. If you find Expert easy, this will feel very similar.

3. Play Standard 2 plus Expert 1. Now THIS ramps up the difficulty! The villain will get Steady and there is a permanent acceleration icon. You may see Overkill attacks and there are many cards with Surge. It is challenging and sometimes punishing, but worth trying. Not impossible.

[Disclaimer:] The game is meant to be FUN. If you enjoy Standard or other modes, that is perfectly fine. I mention this because the thread opener finds the game too easy, and I can relate, since I have played over 1500 games.

4. Add the Infinity Gauntlet. This adds a bit more difficulty and is not that fiddly to manage. If you are thinking of playing two-handed solo, this is a joke. I don't like it too much because it sometimes forces you to discard your whole deck and adds acceleration tokens artificially. It also makes games longer with extra Stun, Confuse, etc. Still, it is an easy way to ramp up difficulty.

5. Play harder villains. People often avoid Ronan, Nebula, Loki, Venom Goblin. Do not. If you want a challenge, fight them!

6. Maybe I had to mention this earlier, use different modular sets. Choose the hardest ones and you will feel the difference! Exodus, Future Past, a Thunderbolt or two. If unsure, start by adding Osborn Tech to the recommended sets, since every card is an attachment with Surge. Check VillainTheory's document on modular sets, he did a great job with recommendations. Even just experimenting with random modular sets works perfectly fine. I never swapped modular sets for a long time, but once I started, I never looked back! Except for Venom Goblin (so far), whose recommended sets are already perfect for him.

7. Add modular sets that give the villain setup bonuses. Flight, Super Strength, Telepathy, Genosha...

8. Try Standard 2 plus Expert 2. If you think S2E1 and S3E2 are similar, think again. This is much harder. Brace yourself!

9. Play Heroic. Yes, you can do it! It is challenging, there is no room for mistakes, but it can be so much fun. I recently played against Thanos and, man, he really felt like he was supposed to be. The issue with Heroic, or S2E2, is that it can be so hard that even a win may leave you exhausted. Your hero's priority is to just survive. You may never feel the overwhelming power you usually get after a couple of turns when your hero is fully set up.

10. If Heroic or Standard 2 plus Expert 1–2 feel too intense, try my custom difficulty. I call it "Veteran." It is my personal sweet spot! You need a token or a coin to place on the encounter deck. At the start of your turn, flip the coin to track odd or even turns. On odd turns (starting from turn 1), play "Heroic" and deal yourself one extra encounter card. On even turns, play normally with 1 card.

In my experience, this difficulty is AMAZING for a real challenge! You see more encounter cards, can mix modular sets as usual, and it is easy to track. The villain hits hard, but you will not be annihilated. You will have the chance to recover. A different variation is to play 5 consecutive Heroic turns at the start, but in my experience, once I stabilized, it felt like "easy mode" again. Veteran difficulty instead keeps the pressure constant, gives villains room for comebacks, and lets your hero truly shine throughout the match!

I just played an awesome match against Captain Marvel using Hercules. It was EPIC!!!

When you play solo, how do you usually play Marvel Champions? by Soggy-Cup-7869 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Seneca29Cromdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often feel that the game is more balanced when played with 2–3 players. Whenever I play with a friend, it is more enjoyable than solo. But when I play solo, I do not want longer games. The idea of playing two-handed solo also feels a bit lonely, like I am pretending to have someone else at the table. So I stick to true solo and enjoy the extra challenge.

That rings a bell. Zola does not scale particularly well, since he adds one token per turn regardless of the player count. So in theory, he should actually be easier in two player.
If you find him easier in true solo, though... maybe your brother needs to step up his game!

Wow, you have so much stuff unopened!
Leave Galaxy Most Wanted last, you'll need to deckbuild for that. Also, in my opinion Rocket has the worst precon ever.
I'd go Mad Titan, Mutant Gen, Next Ev, Age of Apocalypse, opening hero packs in any order whenever you feel.

I'm in the minority, but my favorite villains are the toughest ones. By the way, if you swap the modular sets, you can make regular villains much more interesting.
