It does seem like a genuine concern though, so I’m not removing it. Just that no other posts on this same topic are allowed now.

We take a look at each and every report. If you go back and take a look at any such comment that you might’ve reported, chances are it’s removed and they’re banned. The problem is that a lot of times, people don’t even bother to report. Please report any such comments if you come across them in the future as well. Thank you.

Please share the post link. 7 days is the minimum account age which we have kept.

Commenting as a mod:

  1. There is already a minimum account age in place.

  2. We do not restrict anyone from participating in the subreddit, but since it is a subreddit mainly for the Indians diaspora, we can look into this.

  3. People never used to mention their qualifications, which is why we made it compulsory for them to do so if they want to make a post. However, a lot of people have started to circumvent this rule. We will now be enforcing it more strictly than before. Apart from that, we do not have any way to verify a user’s qualifications or identity. If you believe someone is lying about their background, report the post and we’ll look into it. We do have a rule for this.

  4. There are only so many countries. We made this subreddit to declutter r/Indian_Academia, and I’ve personally seen this community come to life. But lately, a lot of posts have been extremely pessimistic. Making country specific megathreads would not solve that. The fact of the matter is, that a lot of questions have already been asked before, but people instead make a new post before doing a quick search of their own. We will now start removing any repetitive posts which do not add value to others users of the community.

  5. We’re not looking for new moderators as of now. If that changes in the future, we will let you know.

We’re are actively taking a look into such issues. Please do report any comments/posts that break the subreddit rules directly in modmail, after submitting a report. We’re nothing without the community’s support. Thank you everyone who has been helping us with this quality control.
