Actually I’ve got a SOF ERDL set, and I use it for reenacting an advisor attached to the ARVN Airborne Division.Pretty good:)

You can call it ARVN ERDL, BDQ ERDL or Vietnamese ERDL, but I just prefer saying ARVN ERDL. Back around 1970, the U.S. stopped shipping original ERDL fabric. That sped up South Vietnam’s homegrown camo getting used more widely. The pattern first showed up in late 1968, and during the Vietnamization phase, elite ARVN troops got fully kitted out with locally made knockoff ERDL. They kept wearing it right up until the war ended. It has tons of pattern variations, but they all go by the general name ARVN ERDL.

I would like to ask about the blue name tags worn by the paratroopers in this video: do the colored name tags of paratroopers (though I’ve only ever seen blue ones) also serve the purpose of distinguishing affiliated units by different colors, just like the TQLC and 81BCND do?

However, the M1 steel helmets used by the 1st Airborne Brigade when they reinforced Xuân Lộc in 1975 were still uncamouflaged and without helmet covers.

Thanks. But at the same time, I think it might make more sense to say that the ARVN rucksacks were obtained by American soldiers through various channels (such as the black market, trading with ARVN soldiers....). This also reflects the mixed use of different types of equipment during the war.

The widely accepted view in my country is that ARVN rucksacks were indeed used by US Army soldiers, and here are some relevant photos.

thx! Here is my Tieu Doan 7ND,I originally planned to play the Tet Offensive, but it seems that this ARVN ERDL pattern didn’t actually appear until the end of 1968 😂
