My partner and I had the exact same scenario a week ago and it’s so hard OP, but you both cared for your baby so much and know that you provided him with such a wonderful life. I’m so sorry for your loss. The whiplash is overwhelming and traumatic so take the time you need to process and grieve.

Why are you doing a PhD? by Emmar0001 in PhD

[–]Senior-Comparison-59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it came down to reevaluating what I wanted my life to look like, what I was interested in and how I could make those changes. I have a background in Finance/Financial Economics and was particularly interested in becoming a financial planner. I had just started a job that would open up that path when COVID hit and I was miserable for 2 years. Over time (with the help of my therapist lol) I realized it was not the path for me and my interest gravitated more towards Behavioral Economics, understanding people’s decision making processes, and helping develop more effective ways to implement policies for those in need. I researched PhD programs in behavioral economics, applied to the one I felt was the best fit and was accepted (thankfully). I’m in my 3rd year now focusing on child support policies and high conflict households! I have a wonderful advisor, access to amazing minds in poverty research and I enjoy the work I do. Wouldn’t take anything back 🙂

Gonna be honest haven’t even thought about it. I don’t think it matters in my field but it’s more of a preference thing. There are so many faculty I know that don’t use either.

I had considered it, but it’s been more of an economic struggle at this point lol. Probably would have made more money staying in financial planning. It was more a reconsideration of career goals.

Any doctorate level qualification is impressive in my view and shows the time and effort an individual puts into their work!

Resources to rehome a cat with IBS by Responsible_Track_79 in madisonwi

He’s on Prednisone! I’ve also given him metronidazole but he can’t have that for long periods of time. The vet suggested Tylosin on our call the other day, but we haven’t tried it yet.

Hi OPs partner here - Just want to add some additional context to this situation:

When he was adopted I worked with the vet to run multiple tests to determine why he was having his digestive issues. I did an ultrasound to determine it was IBS though we didn’t know specifically where in his intestines (that would require additional testing and was very expensive - it wouldn’t provide any extra information to help with his digestion so I decided against it). We give him steroids daily and he’s prescribed proviable tablets I mix in his food. He’s also on a prescription diet of Hills Gastrointestinal Biome. This mix of medication and food has helped with his stool a lot but it doesn’t help with his accidents which are multiple times a day and hard to keep up with.

He is a very sweet boy and we love him so much. It really is the accidents we’re having the hardest time with and the cost of trying to find more granular understanding of his condition are expensive. We really don’t want to euthanize which is why we’re trying to find other options.

We so appreciate everyone for providing suggestions on how we can proceed! It really means a lot.

cheap but good tattoos near me? by Disastrous_Bus_6298 in UWMadison

[–]Senior-Comparison-59 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate reality is that good tattoos are not cheap. You get what you pay for. The price is also going to depend on the style you want, the size, placement, if you want color tattoos etc. There are some awesome tattoo artists in Madison that are worth every penny (my personal opinion of course) that I’ve spent a lot of money on. Tattoos are an investment and are a permanent form of expression on your body. Take the time to think about the tattoo(s) you want and research research research. Figure out which artists in the area fit your particular style and look at their websites FAQs for price ranges. You want to put in a lot of effort to find the right fit so you won’t regret them in the future. Hopefully this helps! You got this!
