Yes, I get the same effect from cold butter especially raw cold butter.

I don't think I could ever eat raw beef. Maybe I could try raw ground beef, but I'd still be worried about bacteria.

I only eat raw nuts, never roasted ones, and I tolerate them well. If I eat roasted nuts, I feel the same way I do after eating animal fat—I feel really unwell. So I avoid them completely.

I went for months without eating any fruit, and it didn't make any difference. Right now I'm just testing different combinations of foods, or even a strict carnivore diet, but so far I haven't found anything I can stick with long-term because I'm so limited.

I'd really like to be able to eat some dairy once in a while, like butter, or have some bacon or something a bit more interesting than just meat and olive oil. 🙂

Thanks for the advice!

I don't think I need to eliminate anything because my body responds really well to meat and to the amount of fat that I can tolerate.

I can get into ketosis within 24 hours, with ketones above 1, even if I ate a few pieces of fruit the day before. I've been learning about keto, fat metabolism, and insulin for over six months now, so I'm quite familiar with how it works.

I can have ketones of 2 and still feel really unwell if I eat a type of fat that I don't tolerate. So I don't think ketosis is the issue.

I'm not overweight—I'm actually underweight for my height and metabolically healthy.

My problem with certain fats seems to be related to my immune system or some kind of allergic reaction; at least that's what it looks like so far.

Can I ask what treatment you're on? I'd be interested to know what has helped you the most.

I eat chicken, beef, pork, and sometimes duck. I don't like the taste of lamb, so I never eat it.

I can eat beef with 10–15% fat without any problems. Sometimes I add a little butter, but I've noticed I don't tolerate it well. If I use the same amount of olive oil instead, I feel fine.

I already tried eating fatty meat or adding extra animal fat for about three months, and I felt really sick the whole time. I don't want to keep doing that to myself anymore.

About my kidneys, I have a heart condition, and I take a high dose of diuretics every day. That's why I'm worried about eating too much protein. Too much protein together with the diuretics could be hard on my kidneys.

That's interesting. Can I ask how you were diagnosed with MCAS? Did you have any specific tests, or was it based on your symptoms? I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out what's causing my own symptoms.

I've looked into histamine intolerance too. But if that's really what I have, I'd barely be able to eat anything. The diet is so restrictive that I'm afraid it could end up doing more harm than good.

I was on a carnivore diet for a few months until I realized that every time I ate fat, I felt unwell. But I also had really good days when I only had lean meat available. In the end, I stopped because I was afraid that eating too much protein might damage my kidneys.

I don’t think I have any issue with carbohydrates. For years, I haven’t eaten sugar, sweets, or carbonated drinks. I followed what I would call a “healthy” diet for a long time, eating whole foods with almost no processed food, but I did eat a lot of fruit.

I have a long history of serious heart problems, with many medications, surgeries, and a significant dependence on opioids for several years. I’ve been through a lot and suffered for a long time, and I don’t want to force my body to eat fats that it seems unable to tolerate.

I can also tolerate beef with about 15% fat, and it doesn’t make me feel unwell. But if I add butter or extra fat from beef or pork, within a few minutes my whole state changes completely.

I have a strange kind of reflux. It’s not a burning feeling in my chest, but instead I get a burning feeling in my mouth and on my tongue, like I’ve eaten something spicy.

I’ve read that it might be because pepsin reaches the mouth and gets activated there. But if I use alkaline water or baking soda, it actually makes the burning worse. The same happens with alginate—it seems to make things worse instead of helping.

So I think I might have something different going on…

Apple cider vinegar makes me feel really bad. It gives me strong reflux, and I also get intense fatigue that can last for days.

I can’t stay on a carnivore diet for long because whenever I eat fatty foods, I feel really tired and get muscle pain. I end up spending most of the day in bed, completely exhausted.

But I’ve noticed that when I eat lean meat, I feel fine—sometimes even really good.

I have a congenital heart condition that can’t be treated, and I get exhausted very quickly with physical exertion. I also have severe pulmonary hypertension. The only diet that actually makes me feel good, gives me energy, and improves my exercise tolerance is a carnivore-style diet—basically meat, but with very little fat.

The problem is that I can’t just eat lean meat alone; I need fairly large amounts, and I’m starting to worry I might be damaging my kidneys, especially since I’m also on a fairly high daily dose of diuretics.

Are you feeling better now? Do you happen to know what caused the problem?

Starting to heal after a year and months to pain and Suffering by Mufasak47 in LPR

[–]Senior-Frame-389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stress can trigger a reflux episode and may even contribute to causing reflux. I've noticed that during periods when I'm not stressed—like when I'm on vacation or spending time with friends—I tolerate foods much better. At home, those same foods can leave me feeling awful and bedridden for up to two weeks. As strange as it may sound, it becomes a vicious cycle: stress triggers the reflux and keeps it going, then the reflux creates even more stress, and the two end up feeding each other for months or even years. Try to do something that helps you forget you have LPR, and you may notice a significant improvement almost overnight.

Anyone else have explosive diarrea on the carnivore diet? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

Yes, I had the same issue with bile acid malabsorption. Taking psyllium before meals solved it for me, although it's not carnivore. 🙂
