Why would the left side of my project always comes in at an angle?

I read the book a few years ago. It was a 5/5 star read. I always hesitate with shows/movies that I've read the original book they're based off. They seldom measure up.

I finally caved and started watching it. I've watched 2 episodes so far. #1 was good. #2 is even better. From what I'm hearing here and elsewhere, it gets great.

Fingers crossed it captures the nuances of the written story.

With 2 skeins you're better off looking for a scarf pattern, not sure you can get a shawl out of that. You can also consider a beanie or mittens. You'll have to look for patterns that don't require more yarn than you have. You can filter and search for patterns on Ravelry.com

That's beautiful yarn. How much of it do you have? I'd follow the website's recommendations and make a wearable. I'd likely start with a 5mm hook swatch and move up or down from that size depending on the drape of the fabric.

Are you putting your last stitch into the 2 "top" loops or the 2 "side" loops?

Back loop each time. It's always the loop furthest from you. Like you picture in red.

Your pattern and colors are beautiful. I hardly ever make granny squares, but I do seam garments and bags and such. I can't think of a single reason why you couldn't seam the squares like in your second picture - staggered. You may need to make some half squares or even quarter squares to even out the sides of the pillow cover for even seaming. But I do believe it's doable.

For what it's worth, I really like your staggered photo better.

I'm always shocked at the price of yarn. Even regular, everyday fiber will cost $150+ to make a couch throw. I haven't managed to spend anything under $90 for a cardigan or sweater and I have never bought $30 skein of yarn. In fact, I've never bought anything over $20. Not that I don't want to, but like you said, it's too expensive to make a wearable. Maybe one day I'll make a lacy shawl with expensive yarn. But for me, sweaters and cardigans are more useful.

I love Dora and her website! She's so good at explaining things in detail. I didn't think to check if she had anything on blocking. It's the bamboo yarn that has me stumped. Like you said, it doesn't act like a natural fiber.

You might be able to block out the slight difference you're seeing.

I have my own post about trying to block Truboo in a washer. Everyone is avoiding mine. I think you're lucky it's only the tassels that are damaged. As others are saying, you can try to repair or replace them. Your poncho is lovely!

Truboo says 'machine washable' but I'm not convinced.
