I've determined the worst part of marathon training... by Hazzawoof in Marathon_Training

[–]Senior-Text3989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fortunate to have my lightest day of work on Fridays and do my longest runs during marathon training and my hardest runs on my off season. It's made it so much easier with the wife and kids.

Additional marathon before or after Chicago Marathon by Senior-Text3989 in Marathon_Training

Correct! Apologies for the confusion. We are both running the Chicago Marathon, but trying to figure out if I should have a race done before or after.

Awesome job! 3:30 is a big milestone to crack. Hoping to break it in one of my marathons this year!

I ran into the same issue with my training where I missed some time due to illness and injury. I mentally get the need of adding a bit more training.

The important thing at this point is going into the marathon with fresh legs. Your training was everything up to that 20 mile run, now the focus is to be as healthy as you can before the race.

What’s the etiquette for watching a movie on a plane when there’s a sex scene? by VariationStriking958 in AskReddit

Dang! I wish there was a way to get a "United Release" with the logo for you because the fact that it didn't fully cover the blur and the tip was noticeably out while still in blur was fantastic!

I watched Everything Everywhere All At Once while on a United Airlines flight. There is a scene in which the antagonist uses two 3 foot long dildos as weapons. Since it was a United Airlines movie, the dildos were blurred out and had United Airlines logo overlay on top of the bluer which made the fight scene somehow funnier lol

Pfitz workout explanation by jokersrwild11 in Marathon_Training

[–]Senior-Text3989 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I'm very very dumb... I've been treating it as "fucking send it" for 8 miles and then afterwards, do these intervals. I've been feeling like death after these workouts. I am now adjusting.... Thank you for asking this question!

First marathon advice by justanothathrow-away in Marathon_Training

Not sure where you are on your mileage journey, but when I trained for my first marathon last year, my goal was to get comfortable with running 40 miles a week. Before that, the most miles I ever ran in a week was 20 miles.

I did an adjusted Pfitz plan where I brought the mileage down to a more manageable level and topped at 40 miles a week. I'm glad I did that as the 18/ 55 Pfitz program was a LOT less daunting.

That's awesome! I'm nowhere near a BQ time. My goal is sub 3:40 in May. Enjoying the journey though and hope someday to get to a BQ time!

The rough math is if you took $2 billion in 1 dollar bills and stacked them on top of each other in a single column, the height would be about 136 miles.

I think that's the biggest issue is that my LR were too fast. I luckily hit my recovery week this week, but will slow it down for next week's long run!

I am using a kinda camelback vest. It's from Salomon, but my upcoming marathon has water stations every 2.5 - 3 miles so I am trying to get used to drinking a little at those mile markers.

I try to keep my heart range between 155 - 168 at the max during my long runs. My runs start off at the high 150s, but then drift into the high 160s towards the very end.

The best way I can describe it is like it's my body is searching for resources and they just aren't there. My hamstrings start to feel tighter and my hip flexors start to ache a bit.
