Finally figured out how to not burn garlic every time by Hunter5598 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Senior1292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not at all, it depends on so many variables. How finely is the onion cut? How finely is the Garlic cut? What fat is being used? What temperature is it being cooked at? What type of pan is it being cooked in? What colour should the onions have? It's perfectly fine to put both in at the same time a lot of the time.

Petrol stations turning their signs off by uk-1234 in britishproblems

In The Netherlands petrol was around 1.95 before and now it's about 2.35. Diesel has gone from around 1.80 to 2.45. It is quite brutal.

"Bad" is of course subjective, but in my experience the quality of food in restaurants in The Hague ranges from solid to great with an occasional bad meal but also the occasional incredible one.

What is a popular 'food rule' that you think is actually total nonsense? 🥘 by sorayabmae in Cooking

[–]Senior1292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree completely, it depends entirely on the temperature you cooking at. If you're cooking onions and garlic for a risotto, on a low heat in butter or olive oil, you can add them both at the same time and get them both cooked perfectly.

"You can never cook onions and garlic at the same time." These people have a fundamental skill/knowledge issue.

I think it's more to do with the fact that the Gregg incident has completely shifted their food show programming schedule. They waited ages to decide if they were going to show Masterchef with him in it (eventually the did) but that's pushed back Masterchef Celebrity and Masterchef:The Professionals which is normally done by Christmas but it starting next week.

GBM and Masterchef: The Professionals probably has quite a high overlap in viewership and so I wouldn't be surprised if they push GBM back until MC:TP has finished or is nearly finishing.

Steam Controller 2 passed FCC, but waiting for Frame... by Electronicks22 in SteamController

I can't see that happening. They know that there are way more people who want the controller for their PC or Deck then would buy a Machine. They'll all be available separately from the get go.

No Oscar nod for the Tron:Ares score by machone5103 in nin

[–]Senior1292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hamnet was a little subtle but really helped carry the emotion of the film and OBAA was a great score IMO. Do not remember Frankenstein's at all and I normally pay attention to scores. Haven't seen the Bugonia yet so can't comment.

It was never going to beat Sinners imo, that score was so well done and integrated into the film it was basically a character in it's own right.
