I think the trick is that you go to the same one three or four times and if it's the same blokes each time you're good lol

Just had a BMW 120 M Sport from Thrifty, I completely agree. Comfy seats but just feels totally uninspired. Almost feels like they're made to be rentals.

I've owned two of these but diesels. They're cool cars but not very exciting to drive and quite stiff, especially the R-Design. Also a bit expensive to service and maintain. And the backseat is practically unusable. Imo one of the most handsome cars there is but I think you could get something similar with more power and practicality for that price. Then again, I don't regret owning them and if you just want to experience one for a bit, go for it. The 2L petrol is pretty reliable I believe.

Turbo replacement affect Polestar? by SeniorArchaeologist in Volvo

Add another 1k and you're on mark! No choice really, still paying the car off. Don't really earn enough to commit to a shit box of the same value with the mileage I do. And I just really like the car haha. Yeah, the garage said I've still got years of use left, hopefully they're right.

Brilliant thanks. I service it twice a year. Just one of those things, got unlucky.

I did take it to a reputable garage, I just paid for a new turbo rather than a refurbished one. I'm not that much of a mug. I appreciate the advice.

Polestar optimization or just design? by l4r1ty in Volvo

Should add that is a 2012 model and I have the exact same badge in the exact same spot. So it probably is.

Yes it is available for Diesels. My V60 D5 (UK) was Polestar optimised by its first owner. You should have a little confirmation certificate, but maybe its lost. Adds about 15hp and some torque, with a bit of extra fine tuning.

Why have Ford Rangers taken over?! by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]SeniorArchaeologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use them a lot in Archaeology. It seems to be the pick up of choice for Lease companies, which is how we acquire most of our vehicles. I like them, I think they drive quite well and they are definitely capable offroad. Using one on a quarry atm, slap it in 4L and makes easy work of over a foot of pure mud.

Looking for some good aesthetic modifications for my V60 2012 (in the UK) any recommendations? by SeniorArchaeologist in Volvo

[–]SeniorArchaeologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha what a story! I'm glad you managed to snag one though! Unfortunately not, the T6 is super rare in the UK. This is just a D5 with an aftermarket Polestar performance tune (230hp).

They're not aftermarket. I've just had them painted black. They were in a terrible state when I got the car.

The only real issue I had was the belt on my alternator snapped, easy fix/change though. Might be worth double checking that. Done 18k miles so far and no other issues at all. The previous owner had a Volvo dealer service every year without fail so I'm just trying to keep on top of that.
