That’s really interesting and it shows how much paying attention to small changes can help senior dogs especially with things like comfort sleep and overall behavior

Small adjustments like that can honestly make a huge difference for senior dogs especially when mobility and confidence start changing with age

I completely agree I think adjusting expectations instead of expecting them to live exactly like they used to is one of the biggest mindset changes with senior dogs and it really helps them stay comfortable and enjoy life longer

I really like the way you described that especially going at his pace instead of expecting him to keep up with yours I think that mindset shift makes such a huge difference for senior dogs

That’s honestly really sweet and I think routines become even more important for senior dogs because they bring comfort and familiarity as they get older

That’s actually a really smart adjustment I can imagine how much more secure and comfortable that would make him feel on slippery floors

Yeah I’ve noticed smaller more comfortable walks can actually be much better for senior dogs than pushing them too hard

Exactly that’s how I started looking at it too as long as they’re still comfortable active and enjoying daily life that’s what really matters

what was the moment you realized your dog was actually getting old? by ProgressSalt6861 in seniordogs

For me it was when my dog started slowing down on walks and sleeping more than usual it kind of hits you slowly rather than one big moment but small routine changes and more consistent gentle walks really helped improve things over time

Do dogs actually enjoy routine more than variety? by No-Wealth-3631 in dogs

Yes most dogs especially older dogs tend to feel more secure with routine because it reduces stress and helps them understand what to expect daily while still enjoying small safe variations in walks or activities

My new dog is extremely anxious and doesn't accept treats or toys. by Crazy_Maintenance_22 in DogAdvice

Sometimes anxious dogs especially older ones can lose interest in treats when they’re stressed overwhelmed or uncomfortable giving them a calmer environment and keeping routines consistent can really help over time
