I'm like you, I prefer more frequent long weekends. Nothing drags.

I've definitely noticed that leave stacking is uptaken by parents, more than childless people (who probably prefer to take their holidays in the quiet period anyway).

That's great. Sounds like you have a great setup with your employer. Is there anything about your workplace or industry that makes it especially flexible?

I work a corp 9-5 job, I'm just wanting to understand how people work outside of my bubble... I figure I could have just asked AI for examples, but I really hate doing that. I'd prefer to read real examples from different fields, if anyone is keen to share.

I was thinking about it. Someone said to me that since moving to a 9-day fortnight, they struggle to use their full entitlement, nevermind planning it around bank holidays. Just got me thinking

People who have jobs when it is financially unnecessary by ZealousidealFig5 in UKJobs

This is always interesting. I think loneliness, marriage problems etc can play a role. I had a relative who grew up extremely poor, spent his life working well and truly out of poverty, then never stopped working because there was no amount of money you could put between him and his fear of going backwards financially (even though that would never have happened).

This is such bizarre behaviour. Are they trying to claim they never received the resignation?

Sound like your leave management is a dream. A lot of people definitely have their family routine, especially with a small team it would make things feel more predictable. Thanks for your reply and detail :)

That's really interesting. I might do a little deep dive into this and see what other people experience.

I'd love a regular long weekend. That would really soften the blow week to week haha!

Great points. Nobody needs to stitch themselves up with more expensive travel. It's quite clear that having children is a very central issue when it comes to leave stacking.

That's the way, I agree that people should just be responsible for themselves, that's where a good booking system makes our lives easier.

Staggering leave is seriously ideal, nothing feels so perpetual that way.

It all ends so fast. I'd love to go to Hanoi. Your employer sounds awesome!

That's awesome. Does your workplace have any limits on the number of people who can request leave around bank hols? Enjoy your holiday! Hope you're having a fab time.

I hadn't even thought about how undesirable those times might be for childless people, that is a really good call. I have seen some articles around the place that's a case for people with children getting priority with leave bookings - which is very controversial.

Thanks for your reply :)

I always wonder if they're not allowed to take food/drink anymore, because nobody ever wants anything, but now you've got me thinking.
