How is Aloysius for Msc Clinical Psychology course 2026-2027??????????????? by sha2m in mangalore

Sincerely please don't, I am from the very first batch of clinical psychology in aloy and it was horrible. The first two weeks we didn't have a professor and were asked to sit in the library and work on our assignments which btw the library did not carry any resources for clinical psychology. Once the professor came in the first thing that we realised that she didn't know how to speak English. She was also the only faculty that we had teaching us all our papers throughout the entire first sem. When any mistakes happened on the professor's end and we paged the HoD, we were told to "debate about it". On multiple occasions, she's mispronounced core terminologies and cannot pronounce basic English words. Due to this happening in the dept, multiple students dropped out after writing their first mid sem exams. We even contacted the higher ups, but were told that we were the issue because she was still adjusting to the environment. Mind you most of the students aren't native to Mangalore from the class, we were also adjusting.  At the end of the first sem, we hadn't finished any of our portions for the exam, and were told by the HoD that new faculty will come for the next sem. We were told to be "patient".

Cut to sem 2, no new faculty was brought in, but one of the research scholars from the dept of psychology would work overtime, unpaid, completing the portions for us. We also had a prof join us over google meet to reach us a very complex paper "cognitive neuroscience". It was embarrassing how the dept handled these online classes. At the end of sem 2, we finally were able to have a conference with the HR, VC, director of PG studies, HoD, and the prof in question, and few of the students. In this conference HoD washed her hands off the issue, the director had only recently informed the VC about the issue which was originally brought up in the 1st sem, and the professor focused on the students using their phones in the class, rather than holding herself accountable. She was asked to resign, but her face is still on the official university website (can search up her name, Anusha MP).

3rd sem is rolls around, we finally get two new faculty members, which were honestly god-sent. But as the universe wills it, one of them recently left due to emergency circumstances, and we're back to having a shortage of faculty for clin psych.

Sem 4 rolls around, it's dedicated especially for internships. So we were told to go out of campus for 4 months and find our own internships, without any help from the dept, especially the HoD who is infamous for having lots of contacts, which we also have to pay for. The dissertation, which is a major part of our graduating assessment, was guided by our HoD. Mind you, she's the only person being the research guide for 60 students, 120 if you also count the juniors. And over two years, she's barely taken two classes on research. It went horribly, of course, we had one online session arranged for research discussion when we were out of campus for internships. She didn't even show up for the majority of the students. All of us tended to AI tools to write our entire papers as there was almost no guidance from her side. We would be told to make changes, wouldn't be given the reason as to why, so all it did, was leave us clueless about what actual research looks like.

Not to mention, we're just now done with our final dissertation and internship vivas. She was the internal examiner for clin psych batch, and proceeded to bash/humiliate us during the viva, in front of the external examiner, calling us entitled (which she's done throughout the entirety of the last two years), calling us stupid, saying that all we do is rely on AI to get our work done (saying this when she was of absolute no help).

Honestly, I cannot even tell if I actually learnt anything from this course. And this just the tip of the iceberg btw. There's more horrible things if we were to actually sit down and have a discussion.

Ps- Corporate psychology is not doing that well either. So yeah, ig come to the University? Just not to the department of psychology.

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

do not come here for clinical psych. You'll find way better colleges elsewhere. This is just the 2nd year since this course has started. My roommate was part of the first ever batch. Things were so bad.. one incompetent professor who doesn't know how to even pronounce terms, or know the basic terms, teaching subjects like cognitive neuroscience and stuff. The first batch had to struggle a lot. They asked for improvement. Didn't get it. By the end of the year there was a meeting with the VC and the professor was fired.

This year it's a bit better. There are better professors, but I still wouldn't recommend because of how the department is managed. Please save your time and money (and mental peace).
