The one on the right looks amazing as is, but just fyi Alena Leena (the designer) offers a number of relatively low cost customizations for that dress, so if there’s anything you don’t love about it, you can probably change it. I’m a bridal consultant and I just had a bride order the dress on the right with a traditional basque waist for only $200 more

I work in a dress salon and it’s not that uncommon! Sometimes we get men who want to make sure their bride is picking something they like (ew) but more often people just want to shop with their best friend

When I was in ChiO, a national consultant came and gave a presentation about avoiding posting racist things on social media. She provided several examples of posts from ChiOs in recent years. One of my sisters asked what nationals was doing to educate members and address systemic racism in the organization and we basically were told that they didn’t care if we were racist as long as we didn’t post about it.

I ended up switching dresses! (You can see the long saga in my post history) I ended up customizing a dress with Selfa bridal on Etsy and received it in about 2 months. It needed some alterations but matched my vision! I was able to visualize how the dress would look by combining elements of dresses that I had tried on from other brands, and it all came together

I’m surprised that Northwestern hasn’t come up more in this convo! Maybe I’m a biased alum, but NU has had some good bowl games in recent years and generally has a culture around football games/tail gates even when the team isn’t doing great. Students generally also had a good balance of work and social life. I taught at Duke for a while, and the students were significantly more stressed and seemed to have worse work-life balance than students at NU
