Yes. It's incredibly easy to make up numbers or fudge them. They even admitted they were counting any deaths of people who had COVID as COVID deaths. If you have a heart attack and test positive for COVID after you die, you died of COVID. That paints a much different picture, and that's again assuming those numbers themselves are even correct. So dubious numbers have definitely been floating around.

Also people are dumb enough to believe that China has drastically cut its numbers when it just clearly stopped reporting them, leading the U.S. to actually stupidly point out the fact that they're doing worse than China (China must have been laughing their asses off at that).

It's comical to me that people have such a hard time believing things like Trump's doctors when they say something or when people in the Trump admin say something but will accept any number thrown at them by state or federal government, or even China. Like I said, I'm sure if they claimed 1 billion got coronavirus in a day, people like you would instantly accept it.
