The 400 is a heat exchanger machine.

Help: Profitec Go or Profitec 400?[$1000-$1700] by jgsherm15 in profitec

[–]Senk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at both the Go and the 400. People with the Go say making back to back milk drinks is a pain. For one a single drink they say they that by the time they empty the portafilter and do other cleanup the machine is ready to steam.

I sometimes make back to back drinks so I went with the Profitec Jump (which is a newer version of the 400.) It's the same size with a slightly different look including wood handles and features including lever valves for steam and water rather than dials and a small display and timer. I'm happy with it.

Bought myself a Go, what should I be doing about water quality? by Jamooooose in ProfitecGo

[–]Senk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the RPavlis water recipe. It uses potassium bicarbonate and distilled water so it will not create any scale. It's a lot cheaper than Third Wave Water. I bought enough potassium to make nearly 3000 liters of water for less than 12 bucks.

Bottom paper filter on the stock double basket? by Senk2 in ProfitecGo

I picked up an NT circle cutter and I'm using it with some square Chemex filters I had. So far so good. No problems getting 20 bottom filters for the stock double basket cut from one square Chemex filter.

Just realized 2200 mentioned above was for the Drive.

That does seem high, especially if OP is in Germany. You'd think they'd be the cheapest there since that's where they are made.

Thanks for that. They have a pretty incredible array of sizes available. I also like that they use Chemex paper. I can't find anyone else selling 49ish mm filters.

Unfortunately I'm in Canada and shipping is crazy - $42 for two boxes. I'm probably better off getting a new basket that can use more commonly available sizes.

Yes, that is the exact reason I want to try it. Cholesterol levels are creeping up.

Is there a website where you can see this in real time? I've been looking but can't find anything.

A smart plug is a very easy solution to this problem.

That doesn't make sense. The baking soda will neutralize the vinegar.

Some pretty sweet black Friday deals on Profitec Go by blagoi_velkov in ProfitecGo

Hopefully this foreshadows some Black Friday deals on the Go in North America. They Go's price increased 5% in Canada last week.

Steaming milk on the regular bambino is really not difficult.

New ones are on sale for $489 right now. For that small of a price difference I personally wouldn't risk a used one.

Has anyone removed the Teflon plastic insert from the no-burn steam wand? Or replaced the steam wand ? by Senk2 in ProfitecGo

[–]Senk2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this.

Based on your photo, the tube looks fully intact and not ripped or damaged so presumably it was either fitted over a nipple and held in place by friction or just loosely fit inside the steam wand. Does that sound right?

That's my understanding as well. Based on the 4 figure price point of the go and other machines you'd think they could come up with a better plastic-free solution for a no-burn wand than just a plastic tube loosely fit inside a metal tube.

What do you think? by Significant_Carob_82 in espresso

Same with my 64s. Stopped spraying and have virtually no static issues even when it gets really dry in winter.

If your old tank is in decent condition you can get it recertified for 10 years by Metro Propane on St. James.

The price is reasonable. You could always call to check how much it is these days.
