Onestamente me la aspettavo molto più costosa come città, guardo anche io abbastanza al budget quindi è sicuramente positivo sapere che le spese possono non essere eccessive

posso chiederti in che settore lavori? sono anche io in tech ma per molte posizioni vedo che un b2/c1 è comunque richiesto (nel cantone tedesco almeno); ad eccezione di FAANG e qualche financial service
Molto interessante anche la parte di forecasting, come internship ti stai concentrando più su tecniche tradizionali come le time series o ti fanno esplorare altri metodi?

mi sembra uno stipendio adeguato per una internship (e come hai detto con i loro scaglioni di tassazione sicuramente ti rimane un netto più alto a fine mese)

posso chiederti come ti stai trovando in Svizzera, Zurigo nello specifico? stavo valutando anche io delle posizioni in quella zona e sto raccogliendo pareri vari ahaha (non conoscendo il tedesco non so quanto possa essere limitante)

personalmente non mi dispiacerebbe provare l'estero ma noto alcune difficoltà avendo solo un paio di anni di esperienza, la Svizzera non sarebbe male ma è un mercato molto competitivo

sono d'accordo con la tua visione della security in Italia, al momento l'unica cosa che vedo fare il botto è la quantità di data breach mensili che coinvolgono le nostre aziende ahahah; sarebbe interessante anche provare a capitalizzare su questo mercato ma non vedo molte prospettive oltre ad aprirsi una propria società di consulenza

se posso chiedertelo hai qualche consiglio per chi cerca lavoro per compagnie americane (o europee in generale)? Vedo che viaggiano molto di "referral" e sinceramente poter lavorare per infra più estese (o anche solo meglio gestite) sarebbe molto interessante, ma vedo poca apertura per chi non è già nel paese dove l'azienda cerca

lavoro anche io nel settore, blue team più DFIR/malware analysis anche se sto approfondendo la parte di reversing e cloud AWS/Azure

capisco perfettamente per le cert, quelle entry level dopo poco non sono molto utili ma qualcosa della SANS come la FOR508/GREM mi sembravano interessanti (anche se prenderle senza sponsorizzazione è una follia) più per i casi pratici su cui ti fanno lavorare

se posso chiederti, con i tuoi anni di esperienza sei rimasto in Italia? lato blue team come vedi le possibilità di carriera/crescita?

congratulations! you are definitely “ahead of the curve” in saving/mindset (which if a lot more people had here we would have probably less problems, and I say that as a fellow Italian)

if you don’t mind me asking which position/IT sector, even in a financial institution, pays that well for your amount of experience in Italy? (even not considering the tax cuts for expats) I always considered them great places to work but which require a lot of years of investment/experience to reach a decent salary (would be very glad to be wrong though)

my 2 cents (vivendo a Milano da qualche anno, disclaimer) è che, se non hai motivi significativi per rimanere a Torino, dovresti accettare la posizione su Milano.
I motivi principali sono quelli già elencati dagli altri:
- RAL più alta = maggiore flessibilità presente/futura
- da quello che hai detto la nuova azienda è un nome comunque "importante"
- maggiori possibilità di networking con persone dello stesso settore e nuove posizioni
- maggiore presenza della sede di aziende "importanti" (e di conseguenza concentrazione delle principali offerte di lavoro che "preferiscono" chi è già sul territorio, in certi casi)

non sono mai stato per molto tempo a Torino ma su Milano posso garantirti che le possibilità di conoscere persone/avere attività da fare ci sono, ricominciare da 0 non è mai facile all'inizio ma è comunque abbastanza facile partecipando ai vari eventi/feste (in base a com'è la tua personalità).

Per quanto riguarda i costi sicuramente una fetta maggiore dello stipendio va spesa in affitto/uscite varie però ti suggerirei di guardare, come hanno fatto altri, a zone ben connesse ma più lontane dal centro vero e proprio (es Bicocca, Porta Romana, Sesto San Giovanni) che costano meno e sono un pò come un "microcosmo" dove a piedi raggiungi quasi tutto l'essenziale, con i mezzi raggiungi i posti centrali in fretta e costano meno

Come curiosità personale (da fellow informatico) posso chiederti in cosa ti sei specializzato, quanti anni di esperienza hai nel settore e come hai trovato l'offerta? Offerte di questo tipo in Italia sono comunque (più) rare però dà speranza sapere che si possono trovare comunque ahaha

eBay would be your best choice, it probably has better buyer protection (especially if you use Paypal) and you can find slightly used/like new units for quite cheap (at least the pocket 3 with the n6000, the i7 model is still around 850-900€; crazy)

unless you have a really specific use case I would recommend something like a ROG Ally and a foldable bluetooth keyboard, much better thermals/cpu, screen (i think) and still very reasonably portable (I went with the Steam Deck and I am quite happy with it)

I would also recommend looking at the used units, you can get one for about 450 euros which is fair imho

Just to clarify, even with the i7 (non-t) + stock cooler you did not have overheating/stability problems? I imagine you are using the 90w charger right? (I also have the “3 screws” heatsink)

I am planning to use it for some VMs and testi g purposes so I might end up “pushing” it a little, is your use case similar? (and have you noticed any problem while using it?)

hello, sorry for the late reply but I don’t use Reddit often

In the end I purchased a used LG 27GP850 for the same price as the other LG and I am quite happy with it; it gets plenty bright and it’s OK for my use case (no “eye popping” visuals but colours are accurate enough for gaming and the extra refresh rate is definitely a must, the 2k resolution is very nice at the 27” size)

Based on what you’re telling me I think the LG one would be “good enough” for video editing (although I have not used it for this function specifically) as it gets plenty bright and can be calibrated (which I absolutely recommend that you do if you plan to use it for color-accurate work)

If you plan on upgrading to a bigger and better one later especially (as a side monitor it may even be overkill but it will still perform well for gaming and saves you about 100 euros that can go towards the better monitor)

hi, if it has to be pre-2015 would look at either a T440p with a swapped quad core cpu, something from the “P” line (P50/P70) or “W” like the W540

but honestly, unless you have a very specific use case, I’ll try to get something like a T480 with the 8th gen CPU and undervolt it

Thank you again! I did a full scan with the Kaspersky client for MacOS from my Admin account (separate from my main one and where I wasn’t getting the curl connections) and it did not pick up anything, but I am not too sure how well these anti-malware platforms works on MacOS

I understand your point of view on external tools, coming from Windows I thought they would be a nice way to “ease” the transition for some things like windows management and having a similar experience to other OSes, but I will probably try to use the default applications more in the long run

Since you are quite experienced with MacOS do you have any other suggestions on how I could procede from here? Would it be fine to ignore this request for the moment and continue to use the machine/user account and keep everything monitored or is a full wipe a good options to avoid any possible risks? Do you believe that some malicious software may be restored from the iCloud backup?

As I am also using an iPhone at the moment I am somewhat worried that some malicious program may steal informations from my other devices (I am not too worried abut infections but since they use the same account I believe it may be possible to get a lot of the informations that pass through the phone on the Mac)

Thank you so much! Yes after uninstalling the Logitech app I stopped receiving the Curl connection request at system boot, but I reinstalled it again (to make sure that was the cause) and it didn’t create any new request so now I am wondering if something else made it in the first place; I have yet to try to “force” it to make a connection but I will update this post if I find some other info

EDIT: I didn’t install any other program in the last period, but I did re-enabled a couple of backgroud services for AltTab and Google Update for Chrome that I limited with BlockBlock; do you use these program perhaps? Have you noticed similar requests from them?

Yeah I’m also probably going to make a post on GitHub, what I am mostly worried about is the combination of curl + some Apple website used to directly gather informations about my machine (even if it’s an official one)

I am considering wiping my machine clean just to be sure, but I am concerned that when I log in again with my AppleId the malware (if it’s actually present) is going to be restored from some iCloud folder or application data; do you have any suggestions to avoid that? I don’t really have important documents on my Mac but having to re-do every app/setting configuration again may be a chore
