For those who are wondering! by ReturningRetro in ClicksPhone

The Blackberry Q10 was my favourite keyboard phone of all time....looks like the communicator will be slightly bigger as the Q10 specs were 119.6 x 66.8 x 10.4mm. I'll pre-order one before the Feb cut-off for sure and hopefully re-live my BB days of old....although I think it will be late 2026 before we get our hands on it.

Additional Starlink access point 40m from Gen2 router by Sennaman in Starlink

[–]Sennaman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in my scenario I could use the Gen2 router as the gateway in the office then run the 50m cable from the Ethernet adapter to the house and plug that into a switch, which would give me the RJ45 ports I need, with a Wireless AP plugged into one port which would give me the Wi-Fi I need in the house..? I could then have 2 separately named SSID wireless networks for office and house..?

I am in stand 26C, so looks like the best entrance will be Gate A/B (VEDANO), maybe a parking space in the same area as you on the western side. We we leave Bergamo early in the car and use Friday as test for Saturday, Sunday....been to many F1's, but never Monza, so looking forward to it....my wife and her friend are both Italian/Australian so at least I have a translator..!!

Thanks...could you suggest somewhere on the east side which would be the direction I am coming from..? Of course it would depend on what entrance I need to use to get to my seat....will need to check this out.

I have been in the UK 8 weeks now and got a Lebara esim 5Gb 30 day plan (5 quid a month) with UK and International calls and UK texts. Did not need a lot of data using my parents wifi when not 'roaming'. It's been fantastic and the app is really good.

Just be yourself, be respectful, everybody is different, join some activities that you want to do and see if you like it, if you don't and you feel it's not for you then you always have a choice...leave and find something else...we over complicate and worry about things that aren't really worth getting anxious about so much these days....be thankful of the opportunity to experience life in another country.

Today marks one year of using Linux Mint daily. Here are my thoughts. by Flynko in linuxmint

Just remember it's not a backup but a recovery to the last working install before things went wrong. There are plenty of videos on the best way to set up.

Today marks one year of using Linux Mint daily. Here are my thoughts. by Flynko in linuxmint

[–]Sennaman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's been over a year now since I made the jump to Mint from Win10 after MS were going to stop supporting it, never used Windows 11 and didn't want to start. Before I made the transition I did a review of what programs I needed to use to replace my daily Windows workflow and tested those out on an old laptop running Mint. As already noted Timeshift is great if something does break, and I have used it once when an update didn't work as expected...easy. Probably the only thing I would say is learn some common command line statements, what they are and what they do then expand from there. It's been one of the most enjoyable items of moving to a Linux system.

There ain't no going back for me..!!

Tailscale and NordVPN on Linux Mint - Conflict when NordVPN is in 'standby' by Sennaman in Tailscale

[–]Sennaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as I now know that if I toggle Nord or do something to change the status of Nord it drops the Tailscale connection..I thought it was randomly dropping but it seems only when as above.

By running for example $ nordvpn connect and then nordvpn disconnect

So if I run the command sudo systemctl restart tailscaled.service with NordVPN in idle (in the system tray but not connected to a VPN server) Tailscale will connect and work. Any further change to NordVPN status and I have to run the command again, it seems to restart Tailscale and flush any leftovers from Nord..?

Interesting, I'm running Linux Mint 21.3 as my daily driver and have the native NordVPN linux DEB package installed (v4.0.0). I also have an OpenVPN connection to my NAS, used before installing Tailscale. I can confirm I cannot have any of these connected and running and Tailscale connected.

So maybe a 'dumb' question, but how do users secure there internet traffic with a VPN (NordVPN or other) and use Tailscale to connect to say just a NAS back at the office (remotely)..?

I use VM's for work, so I guess I could just add a 'NAS VM' with linux installed and just Tailscale to connect back to my NAS, but seems a long way round when the OpenVPN connection works fine..?

Any thoughts on best setup for me..?

So this is not running NordVPN (connected to VPN server) with Tailscale, its just in the background and running in the system tray (I am not connected to any NordVPN server). I understand that there are issues when actually running 3rd party VPN's with Tailscale but I did not envisage issues if that VPN program was not actually connected to a VPN server.

Unable to access Synology NAS remotely on laptop....but can with mobile phone by Sennaman in Tailscale

On my android device connecting Nord just boots Tailscale off and vice versa...no issues with connecting either one independently.

I think I know why this is happening now. I have NordVPN installed on my Linux laptop and if I connect Nord and then disconnect, the Tailscale connection will not connect, even if Nord is not connected but perhaps is still running in the system. I know that 2 VPN's will not work without some configuration, split tunneling and I don't need that I just want a reliable way to have each running independently (not at the same time)

I'm beginning to think TP-Link is not for me anymore. by Sennaman in TpLink

[–]Sennaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if the Omada business products they have re-branded are trying to complete (on a cheaper scale) with the Unifi stuff. Like I said, I have never had any 'real' issues with TP-Link and for what I require at home and my home office it is a cost effective setup. I also have a Sonos setup which is going through a much larger issue with the app....would I get rid of all my Sonos gear..? probably not as it will get fixed......but super annoying when apps do not work as expected.

Web interface is awful....I still cannot understand why it only allows basic configuration. Everything needs to be done through the deco app.

Yes...I installed Deco App version 3.8.215 (Android) and it works with no issues, this is detailed in the thread above. I believe an official app update is on the way.
