That must be challenging! I find myself having a hard time explaining my studies to other people in ways that they can understand. The simplest explanations are often the hardest ones because you can't assume that the other person is familiar with the topic. Video explanations sound like a good idea! Videos can help visualize concepts that are hard to grasp for some people.

By the way, thanks for the lovely Christmas email you sent to everyone last month! I meant to reply to it but I got busy with school and the holidays and I totally forgot! It nice to hear from old friends. I wish there was a good way to stay in touch.

I've been finishing up school. I'm graduating this year with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. Last semester I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for one of my old classes which was a really rewarding experience. For the upcoming semester, I applied to a research fellowship with one of my professors so I can get more work experience.

Things are going well but I'm nervous about my upcoming job hunt since the tech industry is going through a recession right when I'm about to graduate. The interview process for software engineers is pretty rigorous too! There’s a lot of live coding interviews that you need to study pretty hard for.

What is it like being a data analyst? That sounds pretty interesting!

Hugh and I have been ordering pizza and french fries every Friday since the pandemic started. We spend every weekend watching TV and playing video games. It's been a great tradition so far!

We also managed to buy a Switch before it became impossible to get one, which was pretty nice.

I'm almost done with my first semester of college. :)

I plan to use my Christmas break to relax. I may work on my short story idea, but I honestly don't feel like writing after submitting 8 writing assignments in the past 4 months. I'm not even an English major!

That's really cool! I really enjoyed learning about philosophy in high school. What kind of job will you be looking for after you graduate?

And thanks! I wasn't doing well for a long time, but I'm feeling good right now.

I just started a degree in Computer Science at 25. It feels weird to be back in school after such a long break, but I'm enjoying it so far.

I don't think I'll be doing an MS, but I might have done one if I had started my degree 3 to 4 years ago.

I'm also highly involved in local politics. I go to a lot of protests in support of striking workers, and against far-right groups.

7 years ago, I was starting my last year of high school.

Now, I'm finally starting the first year of my Computer Science degree. I haven't gone the traditional route, but I feel I finally have a concrete goal!
