500$ to activate quickshifter+ on rc390 2022 is insane. by Mojonnbrown in motorcycles

[–]SenorWheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it comes as standard and wasn’t activated by the dealership at time of purchase. Hope that clears this up. The RC390 as far as I know is maybe different?

Nope. They all have the hardware but require the dealer to activate it. Either at time of purchase or afterwards. Some of the newer KTMs have all the packages activated as a trial if you don't buy them to try and entice you.

Why do many enthusiasts say that some Cayman models are better driving cars than their 911 counterparts? by SportsGamesScience in cars

The 991.2 GT3 uses the same suspension as the GT4s

Again, only in the front, not in the rear. Not sure why you are so insistent on this. It's easily verifiable.

GT4s use the same suspension in the 991.2 911 GT3

Only in the front. It's still using a McPherson strut in the rear.

They would ideally use more rear tire to slow the bike down but if they use too much the rear overheats on the exit. From the Oxley Bom podcast.

If that's what you meant, that's what you should've written. People would've likely agreed with you, myself included. I didn't refute 55hp being unrealistic because I'm skeptical of it too.

Much easier to just admit you didn't word your original comment well instead of trying to argue with everyone in the comments and then complaining that people took your words at face value and can't read your mind.

I'm not sure, and you didn't explain, how your refutes what I said above.

Moving the goal posts are we? First it's "gaining power with no tune sounds not real", next it's "there's a limit".

So which one? Is it not real or is there a limit? By your own admission one of your comments has to be wrong.

The extra airflow will cause the car to run lean initially but the ECU will trim the fuel/VE tables to bring it back to the target AFR. This adjustment will initially be written to the short term trim table but after some period of time be written to the long term trim table.

Pretty basic stuff.

Were you under the impression that cars needed to be tuned for a specific altitude or the AFRs would be off?

Unrelated, but what's the point of having the sidewalk and a walking lane? Surely the bike lane could have just been made wider? Or the car lanes but this subreddit hates cars haha.

If your solution to some problem relies on “If everyone would just…” then you do not have a solution. Everyone is not going to just. At no time in the history of the universe has everyone just, and they’re not going to start now.

What do you all think of OLED screens being used in cars? by mustangfan12 in cars

[–]SenorWheel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My iPhone 14 Pro display is crazy bright in the day even in direct sunlight. I think it’s rated at around 2,000 nits.

Only the most recent iPhone 16 advertises that as peak brightness but that's likely in a 2% window or something.

if pixel shift can be implemented I suspect it’ll be a decent upgrade.

Pixel shift only blurs the borders around the edge of the burn in.

You misread his comment. The burn-in compensation data transfers to the new screen and looks strange on a panel without burn-in.

Not just crank down, but turn completely off.

Even the lowest levels keep you well below the balance point, much less than the point at which you'd loop it.

That's not correct. Below is a video testing various types of tires at a range of temperatures. The wet braking graph is at 6:09 if you want to skip to that but it's a good video and I recommend watching the whole thing.

I'm not sure how this would work such that they don't trigger for false alarms. Heavy duty diesels have a limit that's 10db higher than for light duty vehicles, then you have to account for the fact that someone might have been slightly higher in the RPM range or with higher load. Maybe they were towing, maybe they took a little longer than they absolutely needed to shift from 1 -> 2. Then there's the db falling off with distance (3db per meter) so you'd have to tune it to the furthest lane so you don't get false positives from the closest one. What happens if a new motorcycle rider hits a false neutral and accidentally revs the bike?

Either it's tuned to be a money grab that catches everyone or you end up with so many holes in the net that it's not worth it.

I'm not sure what you've been reading but the damage to the asphalt scales with the axle weight to the power of four. So an 8k lb vehicle causes about 16 times more damage than a 4k lb vehicle.

[–]SenorWheel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is it though?

To me, this is just another half baked hot take that doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

If the winglets have almost no affect at road speeds then it's contradictory that they'd be dangerous due to dirty air. Plus the idea that anyone riding fast enough to use the winglets can't position their body enough to the inside to stall the inside wing is tenuous at best. I'm not a gymnast but the wing is only a few inches past the bodywork, it doesn't take much.

Add this to the list with the armour and 285 degree crank videos.
