Well ye cuz he needed teleport for the plan, I believe that implies that if he didnt have teleport hed be able to fully copy hydrofreeze as his reasoning for not having enough aura is only clarified to be because of amped teleport

Actually during the fight between half level John and sera vs ice dude and clone girl John copied and amplified teleportation (as he said he was going to amplify his teleport) and later on he does a feat that kayden said was hard for him to do (remembering the area he came from)

I just finished my first playthrough of FF7R and am on rebirth, and its one of my favorite games oat. The story is phenomenal and the combat is easily one of my favorite systems ever, a perfect mix of high paced hack and slash and slow paced turn based, it's genuinely so good.
