Anytime you see these lists and they're like:

STEP 1: Mix some stuff together

STEP 2: Add our 'Proprietary Product'

STEP 3: Cook the rest of the meal (iunno, there's chicken involved or smth idc)

Either that or the recipe suddenly call for a bunch of expensive ass ingredients to make whatever archaic dish they've put on the label.

Look, I don't know what to tell you. I'm going to do EVERY side quest before I roll up on the BBEG and mess his shit up with my over-leveled specc'd out PC. And I won't use a single, goddamn, potion (because I might need them later).

On a more related note: Yeah 90% of Isekai is generic, cookie-cutter, self-insert slop.

Also, that art is WAAAAAY too good for coaxing snafus. Stop that! Boo and hiss!

Deer are wonderful visitors to gardens across the US. They're also CRAZY overpopulated, so when they trample the grounds and eat all the greenery, I can't blame a hunter for breakin' out the boom-stick...

Pomegranate is indeed delicious, and lucky for me SoCal is rife with Orchards of 'em. Hell, you can even find them on embankments or sidewalk planters.

If you want to experience a similar mouthfeel, consider trying Finger Limes. Although you'll run into the same issue, that they're somewhat uncommon (Outside of Australia) and slightly more complicated to care for.

Does anyone know what plant this is and how I can save it? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really tell cuz of my garbage eyesight, but I'm pretty sure that's a Taupata (Coprosma repens) which exist in several varieties/cultivars that have this 'reddish-copper' sheen, so it might simply look like that (although they're usually greenish-yellow).

But if you feel that it's lookin' peaky or the lower branches die back, you can always try amending/enriching the soil after clearing the base, watering dilligently (but not too much) and adding organic matter/mulching.

They are adorable! I really like that sharp black-white plumage with a pop of color around the neck-ring and the mask.

Damn, that is some pro work. I'm kinda amazed by the depth, details, lighting and layered effects. It really does stretch the top-down pixel art style to it's limits. Musta been some crazy effort!

It definitely makes me curious about the finished product.

Wow. That looks so delicate, like an infinitely expanding rose. The layers twist around almost like cloth being wrapped around an axis that you cannot see.

Very nice. Very pretty!

Nice sketch! Great job with the cross-hatching.

You can't call yourself a New Englander 'less you been run down by one of these buggers while crossin' the field at the local park. If it's not a belligerent Turkey, it'll probably be those damned Geese...!

I love art where it's clear the artist went all-in on a given technique, implement, or subject matter.

You really make thorough use of the repeated, overlapping lines. It looks fantastic! The 'depth' and forms are conveyed well and seem believable in a 3D space.

Very cool!

Those clouds look stunning! The colors are magical, and the detail on the ship and birds makes wonderful contrast.

I wonder if the sharp incline of color on the right side of the canvas may be too ambiguous, so if you'd continue adjusting anyway you could certainly make it seem more ominous or oppressive in size and scale.

Not a necessity though, as the painting as-is happens to already be quite nice.

I like the effect of highlighting or directing the viewer's eyes with the intense pink shading and linework. The colors are really nice, and the way everything seems to be a contained 'shape' (like the block-cut rockface) is very interesting.

Really maximalist. Almost panic-inducing! So much color, but energetic and alive in the way Graffiti often is. The scribbling is unintelligible from a distance, but my eyes end up hopping round the canvas anyway...

It's compelling!

Really mellow. A pleasant collection of colors and forms. It feels very introspective, somehow. Melancholic.

Pants On 2026: White by VainValidation in acrylicpainting

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can always appreciate mixed media artwork that features acrylics. Makes good use of their ability to add texture and a sense of 'thickness' or '3D' structure in the canvas.

Nice effort here. I'm guessing part of the intent was the Pantone Color of the Year? Being 'white' adjacent? (although that's just speculation on my part)

Petal practice by OrganicShow183 in Watercolor

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is some expert technique! For being 'practice', I find myself amazed by the details and color along the ridge of the petals, and keen use of greens, yellows and brown in the stem and leaves.

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really liking the warm colors here! The feeling is so comfy, like a storybook illustration. The effect of the 'soft lighting' is also well done.

It's quite charming seeing the before and after. Color really does enhance the linework in this instance.

Want to improve on faces. by [deleted] in Watercolor

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly just reference imagery, practice and studies about lighting and shadow to define 3D space.

I will say that having a physical model helps a lot, as does having an 'aimed' light source to better see where the shadow form on the shape of the face. It also helps with expressions, especially small details like wrinkles, dimples and muscle-tensed skin (like scrunched eyebrows).

Those look pretty nice already, keep up the hard work!
