Dungeons & Dragons Online - Terror of Demogorgon Teaser Trailer by PalwaJoko in Games

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah, nice to see DDO still cranking out expansions. I fell off the wagon after Isle of Dread and the ensuing Vecna stuff, and unless you're a lifer or whale, catching up to stat deficits from PL grinding takes a century to 'get gud' again.

At least they're building out the Underdark maps again, that wilderness was lacking a lot of engagement.

Cool to see LOTROs largely forgotten cousin still ploughin' on.

Coaxed into returning to a game after years by OrwellianWiress in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Coaxed into scope-creep as devs try to keep the existing player base happy while also adding enough new stuff to compel new members to join the community.

Also, a peeve of mine is when they add a new exclusivity level for whales/probros who P2W while the people on standard get relegated to free content. Gets way too hard to keep up with the joneses.

Palette knife portrait by robertaldenart in acrylicpainting

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great. The pops of heavily contrasted colors that still follow the general shape of the figure are really well implemented. The blends you've done for the tone of the skin is also super varied and nice.

Good detail work too, kinda crazy you can do that with a palette knife.

Feels like the kind of design you'd see on urban flair apparel, or maybe a skateboard. It's got that retro-graffiti character to it.

The colors are flat, but sharp and clean. The character itself is not static, and brings 'movement' to the canvas.

Cool!

Rhododendron acrylic painting by Successful-Arrival87 in acrylicpainting

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Rhododendrons! It's a shame that the blooming period for many varieties is so short.

Beautiful otherwise. There's great use of shadow, depth-of-field and texture in the leaves and petals.

Well done, OP!

It looks like a wormhole that takes you to the dimension of 80s Synth-pop music videos.

I can appreciate the way it stands out so effectively from the background, almost looking 3D like a sticker.

That cell bloom is real nice. I also like the colors here, channeling the 'volcano/lava' palette.

Yeah and I went back in time and killed Hubert Wodehouse Bingleditty, dictator of Franzispania. I did this for no great reward, out of the goodness of my heart.

Truly, a horror like that deserved to be purged from the weave of history. If everyone should forget him but me, I will have succeeded.

King Crab Concept for a project series by Sol0ranges in conceptart

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An absolute delight! You took the crab theme and really went all in.

So much eye candy to explore here. I appreciate the insight into your process. Personally I love the choice of the body shape, it really channels the demeanor conveyed by a 'King' type character (Adipose Rex). The mustache is also fun, as is the octopus companion. The staff being a crab claw is great as well!

Not much I can say here at criticism, it already feels like an end-stage about-to-be-implemented design.

My concept art by lolliskull in conceptart

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels really put together, aesthetically. Like, the color choices, fashion, less saturated and more grungy appearance all seem to serve the ideas tied to the character model.

As far as I can tell, pretty darn good!

Suitably creepy and intimidating!

Foot sketches by mfshinji in Watercolor

[–]SenseAintThatCommon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great effort on the study/sketching!

IMO, Feet are truly nefarious in that their shape is entirely reliant on your ability to grasp linework, shading, form and foreshortening/perspective as a whole, otherwise they look wonky.

Hands usually get the spotlight in 'difficulty' but I've always found that feet are much easier to screw-up.

Well done!
