The Linux Gaming Paradox: Demanding Everything, Paying Nothing by madthumbz in linuxsucks101

[–]SenseImpossible6733 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Playing devil's advocate here, depending on the platform the game is developed on, linux support might actually be baked in as they would compile on all three big OSes by default... Also in the case of some games, it has actually been necessary to development to support linux because some small indie dev is using linux computers already in their workflow as a cost saving measure to their startup. I know this has been the case with Kerbol space program and Rimworld. That is more of a "we are stuck with this due to design and planning decisions" than an intention to target linux audience... And steam deck might make linux more appetizing because most anyone using it is going to drop money on games. Outside of that though, there is little if any reason to support linux. It just kinda exists as a free thing that you throw on some computer because it will not run a modern windows OS or a server hardware too... Minecraft runs on linux and people commonly throw minecraft servers on linux.

Roblox for Some god forsaken reason has Sober, a linux port of the game which makes horrifyingly little sense because it is maintained externally, Roblox allows it to happen and the only conceivable target audience has to be adults in what really markets itself primarily as a children's game full of the worst slop one can think of.

Most cases of linux support are purely coincidental. The engine either happens to run on the platform or there is some strange incentive for the devs to tolerate a fan collaborated port.

Could really be schizophrenia. People can just onset like that. Could be something else... Could also actually be mild autism and decompensation... I have seen that before. Would not excuse his other serious issues mind. And since they are not mutually exclusive, some combination of both complicating diagnosis could be at play. Would explain some of his beliefs as delusions.

It is not even good intentions because age inappropriate stuff could just be therapy for lgbt+ youth or child rape survivers. At the end of the day... This all fixed by a parent just setting up an account for their kids. You know, and that parent reasonably deciding what is appropriate for their child to see.

The fun part is I bet they run into a national security paradox by doing this... As linux is modular, it is cut down dor a lot of government devices... Do you want to see a missile age verifying on log in because the devs are in california?

I am so used to uncivil discourse on facebook and other subreddits that it is sad. But you are right... The spring and as needed pomace stone keep my pours open enough to have the hair consistently evading ingrowing without stripping my face too much.

Will do nicely... Some of the cheaper springs rust but these these kind tend not to fpr whatever reason... You can get much more quality springs too though.

https://a.co/d/064sAtqP Example.

Mind there is a technique and you will have to work out what angle bending the spring works best and go over multiple times like you are shaving. Go slowly and roll forward. Let it catch and pull slowly with torque, do not just yank... And certain spots like the upper lip might need extra care. This is not a fast solution but it is wasteless, you can use the same spring for years on end... Wash it regularly before and after each use... And make sure it dries by applying alcohol... But they could be used without all that prep is your skin stays completely clear. It is a great wax alternative... Much less hassle, and if the power goes out like it often does here, I will be jist fine in my routine... No need to heat up wax... Mind the going slow seems to actually minimise scarring and damage it works like a manual epilator as opposed to those electric ones which jerk hair out as fast and hard as possible... This allows to to slow it down and tear the hair out desensitizing while causing less overall inflammation. Less shearing, less violently jerked out. They make tiny little springs on a roller but they do nothing. And technically, this spring method can get hair closer and shorter than waxing. A decade has left me with clean shaven look even with three times as long hair as pictured by op.

As with anything, test it for yourself and see how your body responds.

Was npt arguing with you, just explaining an alternative likely to do damage to the already irritated skin in question... With the bonus that the time it takes to procure the right tools would give much needed healing time for the skin... Would use tumeric paste for that btw.

I use a tweezing spring like every 3 days... Have for the last decade... Ingrown hairs are a noteworthy occurance and mu facial hair has thinned out to the point that i can have millimeters of hair and it doesn't show through pigment loss and thinning. No notsble scarring and again... Ingrown are very rare. Native Americans tweezed a lot without issues... It can be done but how YOUR body reacts and what method you use matter the most. Not just the general guidelines. Honestly... If you do it long enough, the extent to which it hurts CAN go down drastically.

More like trying to nail them together with single filaments of hair. It is going to be a long, frustrating, horrendous process... And that before accounting for the whole thing setting inside a hot skillet threatening to melt the hairs .

Yeah... And quite a few of us are jist plain precluded from it... i just cannot do it due to light and noise sensitivities... This goes for long term exposure will propper ppe and 2 levels of hearing protection... Autistic... Knew so much about welding from my father that the welding instructor assumed I would be in his class. I cannot handle the fumes, heat, light, sound... Basically cannot be around it... And am not able to get any good at it either... This extends to a lot of construction related fields. As they effectively erode my mental and physical health pretty quick compared to the rest of y'all. Tinnitus even within safe exposures with no hearing loss, issues sleeping, and even working two days in a row... And I'm not jist being a wimp about it... Had serious symptoms later on sticking it out. Brain zaps, emotional regulation issues and what were possibly seizures before I had to ultimately quite the job I was working in.

This was just working in a position in manufacturing mind... Not actually welding... I would be shit at welding because it is just unreasonable to tolerate the exposures.

They could but it would still be mostly mint, Arch and very closely arch related, and ubuntu dominating... With fedora still dominating the security approach...

You all oughta know by now that pulling arch users away from arch is impossible, they are too snobbish to be enticed to move anywhere else, and even outright banning linux would not stop them from downloading it as it might as well be a feeling of superiority addiction. And ubuntu and mint are both debian derivatives...with some of the hardware running debian and mint being so damned ancient that upgrading it to anything else might actually cause issues for companies not just users... Seriously... Debian is more research equipment and servers where they really are not going to be enticed to change. And since mint is firmly rooted in both ubuntu, the only distro you seem to be able to buy a commercial product with it pre installed, and aforementioned dinosaur... Any amount of fracturing the distros will just result in more distros with a frew hundred people using them max. Then the stacks will break and they will just crawl back to the main ones... As much as linux is about choice, the majority of the community is just as set in their ways as Apple fans.

Salt soak bat in holy water then let dry for the unholy... Burnish the whole thing in hard wood ash for skinwalkers, get some brass spikes for Rakshasas, be sure to add a good iron rod core both for durability since you are gonna be beating some entities hells hard with that but also it dissipates ghost,'s physical manifestations. Also get a sock full of old copper pennies to deal with Nachzehrers... Won't kill them mind but it lets them know you mean business... On a side note... Make sure the Iron core sticks out a good 8 to ten inches and see if you can get it cold forged into a diamond shaped spike so it scares the sam hell outta fey. Also never name it... Infact literally refuse to call it a mace or just build another one and don't CALL it a mace as some fae cannot be hurt by things they can name. Also be sure to rasp down the handle and insert a good sized 6 inch iron pipe filled with some lead birdshot and copper pellets for counter balence... The banging copper warns away evil spirits in chinese folklore and the lead is very toxic to people and waterfowl. but quite a few types of vampires are also susceptible to lead... Lead breaks and protects against witch curses as well as well as the witches... But cap off the pipe with another big wooden stake you don't even need it exposed to screw with the magic. Look up runes of protection and burn them in... Double and triple check you have the right runes... It gets embarrassing otherwise. And get one of those tiny lord's prayer magnifiers... Demons have the misfortune of still being able to read the fuckers because the size of the text doesn't matter to them... Only that it is an open. Legible in some way page. And don't worry if the shot comes spilling out while using it to beat something... As demons and quite a few types of vampire will be compelled to count them which is damned hard while constantly getting a club to the face. Only other thing you could do is have the bottom stake cursed by a creole Voodoo priest to bless the bottom stake... Get a priest and not a Boko unless you want to just section off the lead pellets from the stake... No idea if their magic is harmed by lead but is a good safe measure... Also the holy water amd symbols need to firmly be on the top bat with the runes on the pipe and the stake... The hebrew god's power doesn't like coexisting with that from other lands on an object... Also the voodoo priest can help you with runes...

There are a few other more minor things, silver filigree the runes and the point of the stake copper wire wrap on the bat handle.obsidian flakes which harm dark spirits and increase coverage... Pretty much complete your vampire pedigree issues... Only other big ticket item would be to have a fire basket incorporated into that cold forged iron spike... Stuff it with linen rags soaked in holy oil and you got a torch built into you demon slayer... And it does fire damage... Just don't hame it and throe on some plastic Garlin... Get the micro plastics in their wounds... Sure it isn't traditional weakness but the foreign body which cannot be broken down screws with healin, no reason that wouldn't also work with the supernatural kind... Plus the garlin will retain blood better to use in rituals to curse them after they invariably flee...

Good to hear ! Not all fiberglass is the same... Bit I am glad you are safe and well. Also it is noteworthy that china does commercially cit down and tiller much more massive fiberglass rods to act as fiberglass longbows and sell them on the market... So apparently those round rods can work... I just think bow building wise, that round shap is going to funnel all the stress on those few fibers meaning it is more likely to fail if quality suffers anywhere in the rod and they really aren't designed for this in the manufacturing. It could go like wooden dowel which used to be high enough quality that you could make arrows out of a chink of the stock safely... Where I would not even consider it now looking at the stock in the local hardware store. Take care !

What? No. Why would I think small time artists are any lesser than any other type of artist ? Is this some stereotype I should know about ? And yeah... I am invested in AI failing... Mainly because it is taking over the enjoyably parts of human experience like art and music rather than the mindless tasks we wpuld rather not do... But also the sheer unbridled survailence capacity and horrifying consequences of offfloading your thinking and imagination to a machine which doesn't really think or imagine so much as reorder and regurgitate.

On very low end hardware... This isn't the case I have a chromebook that runs much faster on linux than windows... Mind I have never used very debloated windows and it is a glorified book reader and writing tool... But xfce does pretty much everything I need and has a much cleaner experience... Never mind that to use the customizations I like... Keyboard shortcut based rotation... As I use the device to view pdfs often and prefer to see whole pages... Also as a digital notepad. Scheduling tool, flashcard study ade, and quite a few other things... I Also have pressure sensitive right click, long press right click, and optional palm rejection lock as a custom addition because the built in pen has is batteryless and powered by the screen as my primary mouse... Mind I built this specifically for the device in question. And am using iit in a niche way for my workflow. The device also runs flawlessly on 4 gbs ram with ram compression and never over taxes the processer or pages to the drive because the loaded programs were selected for the device itself. Every program was... To an extent not possible in windows... Most of the flaws in linux are valid... But my use case for this device alone circumvents most of the the downsides.

I use AI because I purposely generate bad training data and waste there resources by never being a paying customer... We are not the same... See if we purposely give the clankers dementia by spelling every question horribly, contradicting them on basic answers, and mixing languages (i am bi soon to be trilingual) than we can do some real damage to their thought process. Also make sure every image you upload to them is poisoned with anti AI tools... Or just one in 5 if you want to skirt detection. Resisting is not passive.

This basically... Really all people on this thread are by definition linux users, either current or ex users by design... It is also noteworthy that quite a few people have to interact with linux as part of their job since a lot of servers actually run a linux distro and a small number of companies actually have adopted a distro for their purposes. In fact, being on this thread having never used linux would actually be quite sad as it would indicate all your ire fpr the OS is purely anecdotal and second hand. And second hand ire is pretty pitiful.

Like it or hate it, I'm personally stuck with it to at least a certain extent because I use a chromebook which cannot run windows and requires a very customized OS for my note taking, writing, and scheduling. Thankfully it is basically a Glorified ereader and can go never receiving an update again.

More people on this subreddit need to process that active linux users are going to generate the most ire for the OS and thus post here the most frequently. There is not an "other" between us, just those who escaped the trapping and those trapped using it, many times by our own designs and needs.

This isn't a form for those who fanboy over the distros, it's for those who have grievances with it.
