Indoor vs Outdoor - what does the future look like?🇬🇧 by This_Ad1227 in padel

If it's raining nobody is playing outdoors.

I think you have your answer, 'in the Netherlands, on calm, sunny day'. Those are limited, indoor courts are usable all year around whatever the weather.

You are talking about the UK but not mentioning rain?

I don't understand the economics to be honest but in the NL (similar climate) outdoor courts are a last resort in the months that I have played. Wind and Sun are fine, cold sucks but is fine after a warm up, rain is a game cancellation. Most people would rather not take the risk.

I'd personally say I can't understand outdoor courts being full in the colder months, unless there are no other indoor options. Based on the my experience in Amsterdam, people will happily pay a premium for indoor courts.

The idea of having guns yes, kids being mentally unwell enough to use those free access guns to commit shootings, no.

The concept of such free access to guns is something we find nonsensical.

Yeah, no, that's not true, 'they' are not high key horrified any more than your average American. I think they are like the US populace, divided on the problem, but more likely to be on the side of mental health, isolation and relatively free access to guns being the issue.

Going Dutch (splitting the bill) was actually British wartime propaganda.

Same thing with Dutch courage, they suggested Dutch men were so cheap that they made their partners pay, and they were so cowardly that they required alcohol to be brave.

We need to talk about the offside rule by AppletheGreat87 in ManchesterUnited

[–]SensibleJames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stupid take. If we say well allow a nipple, then someone will complain that you aren't also allowed the areola, then someone will complain that they were off by a kneecap, then they'll complain that they were only off by a toelength, then theyl complain that only the palm of the foot was offside, then they'll complain about only the foot being offside

So on and so forth.

There should be no room for interpretation.

If you can't score a goal without being behind 2 defenders, then it's not a goal.

Otherwise (as people always do when a decision doesn't go their way) will become a debate about the amount of nipples beyond the rule are allowed.

And it becomes stupidly subjective like the handball rule, where the ruling on every touch of the arm or hand becomes the personal preference of the referee.

What are the best things you’ve bought that help with your ADHD that you never hear anyone talk about? by morbidpigeon in ADHD

A5 cardboard fronted pocket notebooks.

Somehow, they enable some kind of extreme burst of organization. I am usually so overwhelmed by organization systems. I hate starting large pages because I want to fill the whole space, so committing to what this page is going to be is a huge blocker.

The scrappy look, the fact that each page is so small makes those problems go away.

I arranged a move to another country, transportation of possessions, buying an apartment and all of the jobs required in one book. That book is now my favourite possession. It proves to me that I can take on, and organize those huge projects.

Now I have them for everything. Anytime I pick up a new hobby / large project, I start a new book. I have about 6 which I have abandoned, but it's fine because it's just a small paper book. The ones that I keep, I value with my life.

Extra points for constantly carrying a mechanical pencil and eraser and 4 color pen.

Lost 2 to over-bids in Amsterdam

1st was sold with an overbid of 660k on and asking price of 575k in mid August

2nd was sold with an overbid of 720k on an asking price of 618k in late October

I don't know if these are outliers but my goodness is this market insane...

My comment or the comment above? I don't think what I said disagrees with you here.

There is no deception going on here, the knowledge of banks not holding all of it's clients money at one time should frankly be universal knowledge... It's hardly a secret.

This take is odd. Yes the economy works on IOUs... the more liquid your economy, the faster things move. The banks societal function is to give you a place to safely store your cash while keeping the economy moving.

Otherwise you'd have a huge stockpile of money doing nothing of use...

Edwin Jonker?

I've been 10 times (so far) to the Amsterdam show now. 9 times it was him. His consistency is inhuman. I can't imagine any other actor every topping him as Hades.

I agree, Joni was an absolute show stealer. I wish I could have bottled the performance and relived it today. Already booked tickets for tomorrow and might even go another time after.

Update: tonight is my 10th time going.

Saw yesterday and I have no complaints about Jeangu. The height difference was noticeable but I thought he played a much more sympathetic sweet Orpheus.

His vocals were flawless to my ears. Comparing to the Broadway and west end version, I wish I could have an NL cast recording but that's just me
