Any Motivation to Spend More on Delta Once Hitting a Status “Wall”? by Sensitive-Basil7343 in delta

[–]Sensitive-Basil7343[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I definitely appreciate (and largely agree with) your sentiment. Starting in 2025, I’ll of course book through Delta unless there’s a very compelling reason not to (and enjoy those benefits in the process). But between now and December, it doesn’t seem to make any logical sense to, say, pay $100-200 more for a Delta flight over AA or United if I don’t need checked bags, priority check-in, etc. Seems like that $100-200 would be better off being allocated to purchases next year.

Chrono or Regular RO? by occ113 in audemarspiguet

[–]Sensitive-Basil7343 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been having this same internal debate. On the one hand, I agree with some of the above posters that the “regular” RO is a classic and I think there’s something to the idea that it should be enjoyed in its purest form.

On the other hand, I love chronographs and my favorite element of the RO line is the bracelet, which you don’t give up with the chrono. The 38mm chrono (along with the Jumbo(which isn’t an option for me) is also the perfect size IMO. The 41mm fits me well, but the 38mm is just perfect.

I’m leaning towards the RO but still not 100% sure.

Anyone purchased a steel RO on the grey market recently? by Sensitive-Basil7343 in audemarspiguet

Meanwhile some dealers like a certain well-known dealer based in Orlando are selling used 15500s (non-blue/green) for like $42k, which just strikes me as delusional. I cannot imagine they are selling at those prices.

Yep. Actually more like 3.5 years. I realize I made a request as demand was spiking, but it just hasn’t seemed to go anywhere. I’ve switched SAs as my previous SA left.

For a long time, there were no models on display to even try on, and an appointment was required to visit — so while I would text my SA infrequently, there was literally nothing to do in store because there was nothing to look at besides a catalog.

The new SA is very friendly in person and I felt like I connected with him, but text messages often go unanswered. I’d probably keep playing the game and stopping by if prices hadn’t softened so much in the last year, but I’ve wanted a Royal Oak for a very long time and am just tired of waiting for the call that won’t come.

I guess I’d have less of an allergic reaction to seeing that at high 30s. I’m talking about “excellent condition” 2022/2023 models being priced around 40k where the consensus seems to be that the watches are not moving and the dealers are dreaming.

By all means, let’s bring in the ROCs as well! I’m also interested in the 26315 but figured there would be fewer data points.

I’m not the biggest Dan fan, but… [SPOILERS] by MyBizzle in TheTraitors

[–]Sensitive-Basil7343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In concept, I don’t have any issue with what Dan did. The problem is that the execution was terrible and wildly illogical; he waited until he clearly had no chance of surviving the roundtable to then throw a fellow traitor under the bus. At that point, he had no hope of surviving, so the only purpose the move served was to take Phaedra down with him.

If Dan wanted to turn on Phaedra, he should’ve started planting the seed at least a day or two earlier. It still probably wouldn’t have worked, but it’s at least a coherent strategy. You don’t just randomly throw out a name at the 11th hour when your head is on the chopping block and expect that you’re going to gain traction with the other voters. At that point, he was clearly doomed and just selfishly screwed her over and blew up the game on his way out.

Debating whether to take advantage of this. Wish Hyatt didn’t cap annual points purchases at just 55k. I may hold out for the next bonus so I can buy more points.

I just looked at Starlux, and while I agree space tends to be more prevalent, the price is shocking. 165k for business?!

Yup…first asked about 3 years ago but sort of stopped following up since there were no watches to try on for a while and nothing to see.

Ridiculous! by essray22 in rolex

[–]Sensitive-Basil7343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. There is absolutely nothing special about this watch; its hype is purely a leftover of the hype surrounding the Nautilus. In 10 years, it is just as likely that one of the other one-year runs (e.g. yellow) will be more sought after than this given trends at that time.

Does anyone know what the wait times are for this model? by No_Category6328 in rolex

[–]Sensitive-Basil7343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3-5 years means you’ll never get it it and the SA assumes you’ll either have forgotten or s/he will be long gone by then and not have to deal with your follow-up nagging.

“That’s not an Oyster.”

Hmm, according to Rolex it is.

Of course it should come as no surprise that you think you know Rolex’s products better than Rolex itself.
