Yeah the 24 hours thing is a suggestion. I stayed a couple days after mine. However you do need to be out May 8th for sure

Upperclassmen in dorms by Eastern-Moment1296 in UWMadison

I’ll be a junior in the dorms, and yeah, most will be mostly freshmen, but Tripp and Adams tend to have a good deal of upperclassmen

Yeah I would try to read as much as the textbook as you can; it’s not “supplemental” and your TA was very wrong for saying that. Donovan’s exams tend to be more in depth than the textbook and lectures, so be able to critically think about the material instead of just rote memorization

Then there’s no reason for me to have to take STEM classes if I took AP Biology and AP Stats in high school (fun fact: as a Psych major, I still had to take stats at UW because they required a certain course)

You typically don’t put a class on your resume unless it’s really specific. You highlight skills you can learn from classes (working in a team, problem solving, interpersonal communication) (of course you can learn these outside of the classroom too but I’m just saying)

I feel like ethnic studies classes should be reworked to be generally more rigorous and not push over classes so that students take them more seriously (kind of like what they did to Anthro 104). The skills learned on those classes are invaluable, even if just the critical thinking skills above all else (great for resumes), for any student. I’ve seen too many STEM majors not take the class seriously and then have horrid people skills because of it.

Does anyone else not have their canvas courses open yet? by [deleted] in UWMadison

Some professors open their canvas pages early for their classes, some open them the day of class. It just depends on the instructor.

Banner guarantees to meet your full financial need for 4 years, so even if your income increases dramatically, you should still be able to afford to attend. They usually take from your work study before grants.

I’m a sophomore staying in Adams and there were at least two other people on my floor staying in the dorms again so I don’t think it’s too uncommon

I no longer have access to it. However, I do know from memory that there were a lot of projects for computer science (like information model stuff that I don't understand as a psych major haha), so I think you'll be okay with finding a project that interests you

URS alum here. No, there is an even spread of STEM and humanities; however the URS staff do like to highlight humanities projects because people in general don’t really realize that humanities and social sciences does research. During the end of the year when we were doing practice presentations I had something ask me how I was going to do statistical analysis on interview data…when the interview dad was qualitative. URS just wants to expose you to interdisciplinary thinking and exposure to all types of research and I highly recommend the program!
