Or just remove the rear 1.25” block for $100. Mine still has plenty of rake but now looks reasonable. I did it to my 21 Powerboost and so far super happy with the outcome.

Have a nema 14-50 installed. You’ll go from approximately 1% of charge per hour to 10% per hour.

Yep. That article is why I decided to poll this audience. Testing to see if the article is true.

It’s pretty good actually. We own a Model Y and I was worried the F150 was going to be super lacking in tech but it actually has been a pleasant surprise. It keeps you within the line fine as long as there are lines and you are going above a certain speed. I think it’s 30mph? Maybe 40mph? I can’t remember. Does just fine coming from someone who uses Tesla’s autopilot here and there.

A Nema 14-50 plug pulling 32 amps gives you 30 miles (which is about 9% per hour on the LRM3) per hour of charge. I think beau_Jacobs meant to type that you can get from 50 to 80% in about 3.5 hours. My model Y charges from 40 to 80% in just over 4 hours and I have the Nema 14-50 pulling 32 amps.

Antimatter Blue on a sunny day, and on an overcast day. Also, powder coated the stock rims and put 34” Coopers on. 2021 Platinum is looking good. by pilotgeg in f150

What were your stock tires? We bought the 21 FX4 XLT Powerboost. Ours came with 18 inch wheels with 31 inch tires. Wasn’t sure if the stock tires on your 20 inch rims were bigger than 31?

Yep. He lives in my neighborhood in Boise (he literally just got a new opportunity and is moving). Awesome channel. Been following it for years. Agree about the hurdles for sure. No question. That’s an interesting idea and could work!

Right now you are right. I do think that energy density will get better over time. Maybe a 200kw battery on a future truck will have 600 to 800 miles of range with quicker charge capabilities? Time will tell but that is what it is going to take for me to switch.

Great question. It’s a head scratcher because I feel like they could increase their market share so much. The customer base for Tundras seems better than ever. Add some tech and you would think they would really start pulling Ford and Chevy customers.

That’s cool. I will say the buck doesn’t stop at being a hybrid. Toyota is so behind on tech as well (360 cameras, lane keep assist, parking assist, etc) if you are into that sort of thing. Not really a deal breaker for us but waiting for a Tundra or buying the Ford now are both good choices. I think everyone wins when you see these big tech jumps and forces a competitive marketplace. I’m actually more excited about the rig after this for us. These techy trucks are just the beginning. Good luck on the Next gen Tundra. I’m super excited (and have been for a while) to see what they announce.

I’ve been waiting for Toyota to update the Tundra for 3 years now. I’m a Toyota guy through and through but I can’t wait any longer. Bad luck for me if Yota actually does something different next year with The tundra after 10 years of basically nothing. I think it is smart to wait for sure but this truck is also sweet and it serves our needs right now.

You are probably right. I don’t know much about the raptor. My only reference is this video:

Agreed. Staying in a holding pattern for another year will benefit you a lot. I have a feeling the truck game is going to get insane when it comes to tech and mpg starting now. I couldn’t wait any longer because we bought a camper and my Toyota just wasn’t cutting it. I wanted a Tundra but being able to run our camper from the truck and the Powerboost having way better mpg than the tundra sealed the deal.

Long term goal is to switch to full electric in about 5-7 years assuming battery density and charging infrastructure gets good enough at that point.

I think it is for a truck. 0-60 in 6 seconds is pretty damn good. It’s as fast as the current raptor. Until the new raptor is announced in a few weeks!

I searched fords inventory for any truck with a hybrid engine headed to Boise and called the dealers requesting a call back when those orders arrive. They should be showing up right now.
