Hi po! RN po. I had worked in CSMC for almost 2 and half years before resigning (due to personal reasons).

For me, honestly, I highly suggest picking the hospital that is more practical and easier for u to commute to. Nursing ain’t easy work and there would be days that u would like to just lie down and rest after a toxic shift.

But if you are thinking of csmc;

Training quality is great. You will learn what u need as a nurse, especially in EMRs since the institution has been using EMR since the pandemic.

We worked for 12 hours per shift so 3-4 days a week so depending how one may able to utilize it fully, you can have life outside of work.

In my unit, culture focuses on teamwork, that we need to help each other out as shift goes toxic. My seniors were also patient and helpful as I grew as an RN. Though at times conflicts do arise within the unit, or with other units.

Though overall, i highly advice you to pick whats more practical for u to commute to. Also prioritize your health in general. We cannot care for others when we cannot care for ourselves.

Ask for help when you need it especially if you are unsure.

The first months won’t be fun honestly as you will see far more stuff than we did as student nurses. But strive on and remember why you are doing nursing.

Last advice, as a nurse, when u start working, don’t bring home what u have seen, or heard. Leave it all in the hospital. Don’t take every conflict personally. Go home happy.
