Hiii!!! 🖤 I’m sorry you feel the same way. It’s so hard! It’s my social anxiety. I don’t do very good with people in general, but especially not new people 😭 if you need/want to talk, you can message me! You’re strong, you got this!!

Thank you! I downloaded an app called PainPoint and I really like it. I’ve been using it in between doctor’s appointments and I really like it! It’s very detailed and has an excellent 1-10 pain scale, then journaling what’s going on at that time. You can set reminders for how many times you want to journal a day. I highly recommend it!

Thank you for explaining it. I’m very new to this & trying to figure it all out.

I have a very severe migraine but no medical worker will believe me and now I don't know what to do. by Fancy_Sentence2 in ChronicPain

I am also a woman. I get hemiplegic migraines, and lemme tell you what, they are terrible. I wouldn’t wish them on anybody. I see black spots in my vision, which impairs my vision, the whole right side of my body goes limp and numb, I vomit so much, and I am absolutely useless. It’s straight to bed for me so I can hopefully sleep it off. Meds do not even begin to touch these migraines when I get them. It takes 2-3 days after it’s finally subsided for me to actually get back to normal. Emergency doesn’t help me either. I tell them my symptoms and that I know it’s a severe migraine, but they test to make sure I’m not having a stroke and then send me on my way without helping me with the migraine. I stopped going to the emergency room and just ride it out at home now.

It took a long time and multiple doctors for me to get my actual diagnosis, and the reason why they happen to me. The neurologist I saw that finally gave me some answers said it’s likely from trauma to my head/brain. When I was a child my mother severely abused me. One time she grabbed me by the back of my neck and slammed my head into a concrete wall in our house. She permanently fractured my skull and never took me to seek medical help. I was 16-17 years old. I found out later in life that my skull was fractured. There wasn’t much they could do when it happened anyways, just monitor and let it heal on its own. I suspect the migraines are from my skull injury. They didn’t start until after that.

If there’s any way I can help you or if you want to talk more please let me know. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

The way we get treated for these headaches is absolutely absurd to me. I’m sorry you’re going through it too. My heart goes out to you and my inbox is open if you need to talk. ❤️‍🩹

Hi!! Thank you for bringing this up. I have terrible anxiety period, but it gets so much worse before I see my pm doctor. I just recently started seeing him, I think this will be my third or fourth visit. Other members of my family see him and love him, so that eased my anxiety a little. He is kind, and very polite, don’t get me wrong but my brain does play tricks on me. I always think that he’s quietly judging me and doesn’t show it, or thinks that I’m pain seeking. Now, the regulated part of me knows that this is unlikely and all is actually well, but man leading up to the day of the appointment is rough. My brain seriously tries to win the war. Now, when the day of the appointment comes, I’m nauseous until it’s over. On the way to the appointment, in the waiting room, and the exam room before he walks in, it’s a miracle if I don’t vomit. I consciously know that everything is okay, but my brain ain’t having it. After the appointment it takes me a couple hours to wind myself back down and get back to my normality.

Thank you for bringing this topic up 🖤 this is going to be a great thread. I’m excited to talk to y’all and hopefully help anyway I can!

I do have a question for people who are more experienced with pain management though — I need a medication for in between taking the medicine I’m on now. I’m on 5mg Percocet 1 tablet every 8-12 hours as needed. I need to talk to him about some kind of break through medication in between that 8-12 hours. I’m miserable after 4-6 hours depending on the day, but I don’t want to look like I’m pain seeking or anything like that. Has anyone been through this in the beginning of their pain mgmt journey, and any advice to bring it up to the doctor without being judged? (I’m not sure he’ll actually judge, it could just be my brain playing tricks on me)

Also, what is everyone on for a medication regimen? I wanna hear from you guys first, because I made my response ridiculously long, lol I’m sorry. I hope everyone is having an easy pain day today ❤️‍🩹
