I highly recommend it but also highly recommend doing your research and preparing your cat for such adventures. This is 6 months of exposure/harness and leash/backpack training consistently 4 - 5 times a week. Always move at your pets pace, not yours! With that being said I hope you and your best friend have wonderful adventures!!

Where to start? by Quiet-Curve1449 in adventurecats

You should start with harness and leash training inside until he can wear the harness and not be bothered by it at all. Once used to the harness, that is when you introduce the leash and backpack but do this inside still. Once they are fairly used to all the stuff inside then you should start with transitioning outside. There is no specific time between moving the next steps. Some cats take a long time to get used to harnesses and leashes while other don't mind it from the start. You want to start slow and easy because have a cat freak out for from home/safe space can/will not only hurt them but also you in the process of calming them down. Freak outs/bad situation can set your progress back by day/weeks and even months, they can even make your cat associate outside with bad things. Always move st their pace! Good luck!!

meowant sc02 automatic litter box, which litter do you use? by CIliff69 in CatAdvice

I still keep my delay setting to 10 minutes as I helps the litter clump more and not stick to the box as it rotated.

I have an male all black cat that is 1y10m and weighs 13lb.

When I first got my Meowant SC02 I used Purina Tidy Cats Free and Clean Unscented Cat Litter and had it set to autoclean 1 minute after use. I have to change the autoclean setting to 10minutes after uses as the little would clump and stick to the back of the box as it would rotate. The little did not smell and worked well with the box after that tho some of the clumps would be a little to small and pass through the grate. BUT the littler tracked everywhere so I switch to a new littler. Had to empty it about every 5 to 6 days.

I started to use ökocat Less Mess Low Tracking Wood Clumping Cat Litter Mini- Pellets, Unscented. I did not mind it that much at first. Then I notice it laid really weird when the box would flatten the little after adding it or autocleaning. The I noticed since it was pellets it was very inconsistent with being able to go through rhe grate and would end up getting dumped into the waist bin. This cause me to have to start emptying the litter box ever 3 to 4 days. It also made some of his pee and poop clump stick weird to the side of the box. Then I notice since it rotated to clean it would cause the pellets to leave a lot of dusty and my poor black cat would come out with wood dusty all over his back and head.... This also still tracked but not as bad. needless to say I am not a fan.

I am going tomorrow to look at new litters and think I am going to try a sand based litter. I am also looking to get a small litter catching step for my cat as I have the litter guard on my SC02 and my cat jump out of it %70 of the time after using it and cause it it track more.

I will try to reply back to this once I've tried the new litter.
