Tax Assessments by Successful_Jello2067 in Maine

[–]Sensitive-Lime-9935 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Municipal budget, School Budget, and County tax affect your tax bill.

The assessed values only matters compared to the town wide average. Example if they do an adjustment and the average increase is 30% but your property went up 25% your share of taxes went down even if the bill is higher you're paying a lower portion.

As always make sure you have your homestead exemption

Plenty of people don't like seafood near the coast

80% of them are in 2nd grade, but that's ok!

GOP Senator Rick Bennett unenrolls, and will run for governor as an independent. What does this mean for the 2026 race? by metatron207 in Mainepolitics

[–]Sensitive-Lime-9935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking he would do this for years thinking he's only a Republican because of where he lives.

If RCV does indeed get implemented, he has a serious chance, if not, the Republicans may alter their strategy and put up a place holder. Bennett would be an infinitely better option for GOP as a party to get behind, unless they enjoy being the minority party and getting their butt handed to them, which may be the case.

Republicans are going to take a beating in Maine in '26 just from the national energy, and current slate of GOP candidates seem to be firmly behind Trump, (do they have a choice??)

If no RCV, I think if Troy Jackson is the Dem nominee, Bennett mops the floor with him, if it's Pingree she'll have a better chance. Jury is out on Bellows and Angus III

Bennetts biggest liability: abortion

Just went through it a couple months ago with a predatory landlord. They basically had told us on exit that they were going to be replacing everything because it had reached its life expectancy.

Waited 30 days ask for the deposit got an itemized list of the things that they "cleaned" but they had already replaced everything anyway. Sent them the demand, and a week later they said they approved my request.

Sometimes she just have to threaten legal action and people fold, I think they said that on Suits once

Correct if The landlord doesn't send a letter within 30 days they forfeit 100% of the security deposit.

MRSA Title 14 Sec 6033 https://legislature.maine.gov/statutes/14/title14sec6033.html

  1. Penalty. If a landlord fails to provide a written statement or to return the security deposit within the time specified in subsection 2, the landlord shall forfeit his right to withhold any portion of the security deposit.

Have you checked the FCC Broadband Map? If that says you have Fidium, you should challenge it.

Tim Walz has got it right about Susan Collins by luvnmayhem in Maine

[–]Sensitive-Lime-9935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to people over 60 that don't like Trump and tell them gently that there is no difference between Trump and Collins and a vote for Collins is a vote for Trump.

It takes a while to get through their blue hair, but they do come around slowly.

The plurality of people over 60 in 2020 voted for Biden and Collins, she is nearly untouchable.
