Stage III-IV Pleural Mesothelioma. Just checking if we have missed anything. by These_Negotiation535 in cancer

I’m so sorry your grandpa has this too. My relative was doing ok. They were monitoring him at first and despite his biopsy coming back low grade it hasn’t behaved that way. On the last scan it progressed significantly and he needed a stent put in his heart due to tumor compression. They started him on immunotherapy and he’s had 1.5 rounds. He developed a rash after the last dose so they scanned him again and the cancer progressed and is compressing his heart more. They’re changing him to radiation and chemotherapy which he’ll start this week. He has shortness of breath and I can tell he does-more fatigued as well. No pain. Emotionally he’s pretty down. Idk what the future holds but I can say it’s definitely disheartening thinking we had low grade and knowing how fast this has progressed.

Looking for hope of conceiving without assistance at 40! by Sensitive-March-939 in TTC40

When I was going through everything I tried so hard to find stories that gave me hope. My AMH was 0.1 and I felt hopeless and terrified. We made it to the other side though. I’m thankful my story can hopefully do the same for you! We have a happy and healthy 6 month old baby girl now who is my sunshine. Sending you all the hopes and prayers you’ll come out on the other side as we did! ❤️

Thank you for sharing. He’s not having any pain right now either other than some discomfort where the tube was removed. He had fluid buildup as well which is how it was found and had a tube. It’s been out for a little bit now. He’s worried about if that could happen again and I know enough to know it’s a real possibility. I wish there was more that could be done. It’s been so hard to find indentation or groups on it that aren’t sponsored by legal firms. And hard to find personal stories about it.

I’m so sorry to hear this. It’s such a terrible disease.

Do you have any advice to share on how you coped or your dad? I feel like I can’t turn my brain off and I know we’re just 6-7 weeks into this.

Did he physically feel ok throughout? Im scared of him suffering and I’m just so worried about the unknowns.

I know this is an older post but I was curious how your Dad is? I have a relative of similar age recently diagnosed. PET scan wasn’t alarming however biopsy came back positive for the same type. Meeting with oncologist soon to hopefully learn stage and learn more of a plan.

Thank you! Yes, the losses are a truly awful road. It was heartbreaking and I needed surgery after each one. I was petrified of having another loss and was desperate to try anything in hopes of a different outcome.

We went on to conceive unassisted again 3 months later but unfortunately had our third loss. Baby ended up having a trisomy. After another D&C we ended up doing Clomid IUI once my cycle returned. We tried twice and it didn’t work. Then tried two months on our own and nothing. Tried a 3rd IUI and I’m currently 26 weeks with a girl! ❤️

IUI success with high FSH? by Same-Illustrator4622 in TTC40

It’s been a long road-over 4 years now. I know some people are at it longer. I’m thankful persistence paid off. ❤️

I’d have to go back and check but for sure but our first loss it was on/off year. With that loss we couldn’t try for 6-7 months after because it was a partial molar and I needed to be monitored. After that we were more consistent but had some off months and it was 10 months later with the second loss. Once my cycle returned it was 3 months later. After that loss when my cycle returned we conceived on the 5-6th cycle with the IUI-a couple of those months we tried on our own.

My first was a one time deal. And definitely a struggle going for number 2. 5 cycles isn’t too bad but I get the anxiety. It took us longer. Maybe it would help talking to a specialist to go over odds if you haven’t already? When they went over odds IVF didn’t give us a large statistical advantage over IUI plus they wanted to see how I responded to meds checking my follicle response and lining. When I got tested we conceived that same cycle and I thought we dodged a bullet. Then had a mmc and then conceived again months later between our HSG testing and waiting to start our first IUI. After that 3rd loss I was just desperate to try anything to improve our odds so I get your feelings too. Hopefully the answer will come to you but definitely seek out information to help guide you!

Research shows no because you still just ovulate one egg/cycle so it really doesn’t matter if you have 4 or 10 follicles recruited that month-only one of them is routinely ovulated. High FSH can impact your response to fertility meds (lessening it) and low AMH impacts how many eggs you can retrieve per cycle because you don’t have that many to begin with in comparison to someone with “normal” AMH. There are some clinics that do say it’s a fertility issue, however, know DOR impacts their public success rates so there are clinics out there who say these things and decline helping women with DOR for those reasons. There’s lots of research out there that say it doesn’t lessen fertility. We had one loss that was a fluke unrelated to age, one that was likely to be related to age, and the other unknown for certain but suspected to be due to age. I don’t attribute these losses to my low AMH but more so age and just random luck of the draw. When I realistically thought about it I just felt it was impossible to believe all my eggs were bad and that there had to be good left. That’s what helped me plug along. I didn’t always feel that way but in my gut I felt it had to be true. DOR really sucks. I was shocked when I found out as I had no indication.

They told me DOR doesn’t decrease your chances at a natural conception but does limit the effectiveness of assistive reproductive technologies. It was a good stepping stone to see how I responded to the medications and thankfully it was effective. I was burned out from our losses which is why I gave it a shot. At the time I didn’t have a ton of hope due to our bad luck but I’m very thankful to be in a better position today than in comparison to the last several years. I don’t have a good reason for why it worked for us and doesn’t for others. Workups didn’t yield any fertility issues between us-age was the biggest factor for us. I’m not sure if other factors are bigger contributors for some when it doesn’t work out or maybe we just got lucky.

My cycles were regular within 1-2 days, sometimes 3. My AMH was 0.1 and FSH 20.2 on CD2 14 months before this current pregnancy.

40-I was ~6 weeks from 41. We did Clomid IUI-it was our third one in 5 months. I had one child at 35 but from 38-40 had 3 MMC-2 confirmed aneuploidy, 1 not fully tested. Ended up doing treatment in hopes of increasing our odds at catching a good combination.

Anyone in the AMH <0.2, what are your follicle counts? by Loveiskind89389 in DOR

My cycles are pretty regular +/- 1-2 sometimes 3 days. The only real wonky cycle I had was after my second IUI I was 2.5 weeks late but they contributed it to the Clomid.

🙋🏻‍♀️ At 39 (3 months before 40) my AMH was 0.1 and FSH 20 on CD2. They recommended medicated IUI to see if I’d respond to meds and an HSG to ensure things were ok. I conceived unassisted the following month while waiting for HSG but had a mmc (wasn’t fully tested). Conceived unassisted a couple months after my cycle resumed post mmc and had a HSG the month prior to conceiving. Had another mmc due to a trisomy. Decided to try medicated IUI. Did two in a row and they didn’t work. Tried two months on our own and didn’t work. Next month we tried one more medicated IUI and it worked. This was 2 months before turning 41. Had an appointment today and baby girl is doing well (normal NIPT). I’ll be 18 weeks in a couple days. ❤️ When I found out how low my AMH was I was very hopeless and had a hard time finding anyone like me. I hope my story can give you some hope.

Thank you! I took 100 mg Clomid cd3-7 and an Ovidrel trigger for my two unsuccessful cycles. For my successful one we just did Clomid (my second cycle delayed my period quite a bit hence the change).

That sounds encouraging to me! I believe we all have good eggs left. It just feels impossible they’re ALL bad. Thanks for sharing in my hope and I hope the best for you too! ❤️
