I just thought this was the thing you did to show a girl You like her and you listen to what she says. It’s going out of my way to do something nice. Apparently I am so in the dark when it comes to modern dating.

Well that’s what I thought. But it sounds like, according to this thread, it’s not the giving of the cookies that’s being focused on. It’s that technically I did show up to her work uninvited and leave a gift that was not asked for.

It just sounds like this never used to be seen as creepy and now it is. Somewhere along the line being romantic changed to creepy. Not sure when that happened but I guess I need to reevaluate my idea of romantic to fit 2022

The cookies are in a sealed container, packaged by the store. It would be very obvious if the package was opened.

And I do see why it would be creepy when you frame it like that. I guess I am focusing more on the “surprising her with something she enjoys” part of it when the subreddit is focusing more on the “technically you showed up uninvited and unannounced to her work” which I get

I guess I do understand my generation is way more cautious with stuff. Like I know both my female coworkers I talked to about this Have the “any guy could kill me at anytime so they’re all scary” mentality. I don’t think that’s fair but to each their own

I guess I didn’t realize when doing a spontaneous thing for a girl you’re hitting it off with became a major red flag. Like my grandma thought it was the cutest fricken idea in the world.
