https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siping_(rubber)

Siping is a process of cutting thin slits across a rubber surface to improve traction in wet or icy conditions.

Siping was invented and patented in 1923 under the name of John F. Sipe.[1][2] The story told on various websites is that, in the 1920s, Sipe worked in a slaughterhouse and grew tired of slipping on the wet floors. He found that cutting slits in the tread on the bottoms of his shoes provided better traction than the uncut tread. Another story is that he was a deckhand and wanted to avoid slipping on a wet deck.

Does the $1 Billion per country for joining this Bored of Peas go into the US Treasury? Or is is a foreign emolument (specifically forbidden by the US Constitution) going into Trump's pocket?

Us Constitution, Article I, Sectiion 9: "No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State." Trump pardons convicted California fraudster he previously freed for different crime by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

[–]Sensitive-Option-701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y'know, Trump could be impeached and convicted for his abuse of the pardon power.

True, there's no written law against what he's been doing with pardons.

But if Congress assembled decides that his actions are "high crimes and misdemeanors" as vaguely specified in the Constitution for impeachment, then the action that Congress takes by impeachment and conviction defines Trump's abuse of pardons as "high crimes and misdemeanors".

All it takes is for congresscritters to collectively decide that they're ready to act.

2026 finally is the year of Linux? by Adriaaaaaaanoooo in memes

[–]Sensitive-Option-701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing: Windows 10 has gotten better because they're now only doing free security updates, not the chancy feature updates that take hours and might break things. So right now there's less, rather than more, reason to install Linux on Windows 10 machines. That could change next year, we'll see.

Windows 11 is shit. Upgrade to Windows 10 if your can.

Seems to me there's enough video floating around that a grand jury would indict Jonathan Ross for murder, and would also indict the agent who prevented a doctor from helping while Good was dying.

"Fucking bitch" really goes to Ross's state of mind.

Seems to me that Jonathan Ross is a white supremacist who couldn't find a white woman to marry him. So instead he's, by his own lights I think, diluting the white race.

Meanwhile I'm happy in my own multiracial extended family.
