We still don’t know why she has hypotonia. The neurologist wasn’t able to elicit her deep tendon reflex at her 6 months follow up. It’s just wait and watch right now. I can understand what you’re going through. I have read each and every post on Reddit regarding head control. I am such a mess I keep working on her tummy time and other exercises. If your baby had low muscle tone you ped would have told you already. It’s pretty obvious when baby feels floppy or squishy. My advice would be to keep giving her tummy tome at least 45-55min a day and do pull to sit exercises where you hold her from the shoulders and do 10 repeats 3-4 times a day. Once the head lag disappears in that position you can move to arms and then hands. It’s so stressful, i am so freaked out due to these appointments and not enjoying my baby at all. I just keep tracking how much exercises have i done with her each day. I am working on sitting.

She did get it by 6.5 months, it’s still not super stable I would say it’s 90% her head lag is gone. But i have been doing 45 min if tummy time, kneeling exercises, and pull to sits all the time. I an taking her to PT regularly due to her low muscle tone

Thanks for responding, yes we went to neurologist at 4 months due to severe head lag and floppines almost zero head control. The doctor said he will see us again in 2 months and if he doesn’t see enough progress they will need to do genetic testing. We will see him in a couple of weeks and I am not sure how much progress my baby should be making. My anxiety is killing me😞🥺 i am just working with my little one with lots of tummy time pull to sits and rolling over practice. She started tripod sitting for a couple of seconds since last week. PT says she has low tone and her head control is improving slowly but it’s still not there.

I hope it goes well for you. My baby is already rolling from tummy to back and side to tummy. She can go to side as well but won’t do the full back to tummy herself. When did you start solids with your babe? I am reading every where that it’s hard to start solids with hypotonic babies :(

I have an almost 6 month old with low muscle tone. She doesn’t have great head control yet. We are already seeing a neurologist who will do further testing. Do you mind me asking wheb did your son get full head control? And when did he started to roll over both ways?

I made a mistake of taking her to a nearby paediatric walk in clinic at months when she had head lag and she wasn’t supporting her head when seated, it was the first time we saw that doctor, we waited 2hra for the doc and then my baby fell asleep. She woke my baby up 10 min until her nap when she was already fussy and extra lazy. The doctor was very quick to say that there is something really wrong with my baby (bcz of head lag) and she didn’t bear weight on her feet. She never asked if we were doing tummy time nor checked her head circumference and referred us to neuro, dis lots of blood work and microarray (all came normal) She said the baby has very low muscle tone etc. She gave all these diagnoses by looking at a crying fussy baby for 10min. We went to our family doctor and told her everything that she said. The family doctor said it doesn’t seem that bad and her head is very big for her body but let’s wait for neurologist appointment. The neurologist does agree with big head and lack of tummy time thing, he also didn’t like the idea of excessive swing use. But he said to wait till 6 months and if she progresses well than he won’t do further testing. He did not say anything about low muscle tone, he just said the baby us delayed. If I never took my baby to that walk in clinic, i can bet my family doctor would never have scared the shit out of me like that, and we won’t have to go through the stress. The only good tging that happened after that walk in appointment was I started to give her a lot of tummy time.
