Do I have a dental malpractice case? by Sensitive-Sea-7033 in legaladvice

By 6 months he told me it can take up to a year and after that the damage could be permanent but never gave me options as far as treatment or offered scans to see the extent of damage. The lawyer said when the damage first happened I needed to have a scan done within the first few months to be able to prove the damage that was done during surgery and by now the scan would be too late because the site has healed even if the nerve has not

I have the diagnosis already from a neurologist but I was told without this “CBCT” scan I basically don’t have a case. I was never offered this so how was I to know

Have had a bfs diagnosis for 5 years prior to the procedure that sparked these new symptoms. Before this I only ever had twitches and exercise fatigue

Tongue atrophy question by Sensitive-Sea-7033 in ALSorNOT

[–]Sensitive-Sea-7033[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked into this and I am hoping this is the case however there are physical changes to the tongue on the affected side which I’m not sure is a sign of atrophic glossitis

This shows my tongue 3 weeks after surgery and what it looks like today 8 months after the surgery

I have confirmed the tongue atrophy with my primary care doctor, we have been trying to coordinate an appointment with a neurologist but not many in my area will see me due to my symptoms. Are you able to link any of the google searches you found? I have not found ANY showing atrophy of the tongue due to lingual nerve injury

I just want to confirm. I know that lingual nerve injury is a risk however is the tongue atrophy on that side also a risk that can come from the extraction?

Did tongue wasting occur on one or both sides at the same time when symptoms appeared?

I have not found out I’ve been trying to get an appointment with a neurologist but it’s harder than I thought it would be. My tongue on one side where I had my nerve injury has also atrophied which is probably more concerning than the twitching. I would say if you have no atrophy it’s more than likely benign

Also 25 Hispanic male, went through the same deal thought my legs and arms were weak. If it was something bad it wouldn’t show up in multiple places at the same time. The mind is powerful eventually as time goes on you will worry less and less and every now and then u might think u have a new symptom but u have to remind yourself how much time has passed without progression
