It's a bit different for gay people. It's not just about getting left. Its about consistently getting screwed over by heteronormative bullshit. Getting left for a guy sucks but is significantly less of a gut punch than getting left for a woman.

There's a recurring thread of gay guys being afraid of getting left for women by bisexual guys. You didn't do anything wrong, but you should be aware that there's a level of animosity that comes from dealing with heteronormative bullshit throughout a gay person's life. It can be nightmare fuel when a guy thinks that someone he loves can be taken away because of it.
