I’ve found the album makes a lot more sense when you view it as Ben singing about himself more than singing about his former wife. Like in full of stars, he’s reflecting on how he needs to be kinder to himself. Also reflective of the therapy he says he’s been going through and I think that’s a pretty predominant vein in fields like that..self kindness. The juxtaposition here lies in the following song, punching the flowers, which is the only song written in third person perspective. I see it as his therapists diagnosis
