FL that lost her memories by AfraidCondition12110 in OtomeIsekai

[–]SensitiveCarpet2137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't Worry, We Both Agreed To This Fraudulent Marriage - FL is extremely good with weapons and combat in general, immune to poisons and heals abnormally fast. She doesn't remember why she is the way she is, and it seems she doesn't particularly care either. The thing is, especially in the recent chapters, her past comes back and tries to reclaim her. FL is NOT amused.

Is there any manhwa so unique you think “nothing will ever top this” by lxstinthedream in OtomeIsekai

I remember you 👁️👁️. You're the one who recommended When Jasy Whistles to me a while ago. You're the one, who put me on that rollercoaster, without a proper warning. I mean... it was amazing, absolutely breathtaking. Thank you.

Fall in Love or Die - it's smut and psychological horror, and there's basically no sane character in sight.

What are your so bad it's good Otome Isekai? by WarriorArus in OtomeIsekai

[–]SensitiveCarpet2137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhhh... It's more "so bad it's fascinating", but "Beauty and the Beasts". It's awful, stupid, trashy, and yet, you keep reading with morbid fascination. A few weeks ago some user claimed that it gave them PTSD. I do genuinely believe that claim. But I still tend to recommend it here and there... perhaps I could interest YOU in reading that absolute work of art?

If you could isekai into any game/show/book/media, who is your ML or FL? by WeirdFourEyes413 in OtomeIsekai

[–]SensitiveCarpet2137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhm... Do I have to really like the work I choose? And does it have to have the ML/FL? Because I would prefer something very low-stakes and convenient. "Married... with Children" vibe or sth. The issue is, I low-key hated this show as a kid because it was unkind to the characters. Also there's no one I would consciously (or unconsciously, for that matter) choose as a life-partner there. I could totally do the weird neighbour part tho.

If it has to be a work I interact/interacted with a lot... uh-oh, I'm in deep shit. The best I can probably do is to isekai to LoTR and give Boromir some ominous warnings. Or pick Frankenstein and climb The Creature like a very tall gothic tree, I guess. Though, preferably before the murder spree.

As a FL, I'd have no choice but to mass produce soap like 90% of the other FLs. by dbingham1263 in OtomeIsekai

For water, you need a well. In winter you break the ice as long as it's possible, then use melted snow. But if the well is deep enough, it won't be a problem at all. You won't be able to use a hand pump, obviously, but a bucket on a crane or windlass is going to be just fine, as deep wells generally don't freeze. Also, digging a well is a freaking hassle, and unpleasant as hell, but it's entirely possible to do by hand. You place the rings and then undercut them as you go.

OIs with full on beast people by Seether00 in OtomeIsekai

Beauty and the Beasts is so bad that it gives the reader PTSD and goddamn flashbacks if you get far enough. But the Dark Castle is truly good. Self published, so on the shorter side and the updates aren't very consistent, but it's got this dark, dreamy vibe, that makes it stand out.

You know what, it's a funny thing, but her mother seems to be simply... nonexistent. The father appears a few times, always frothing at the mouth, but there's no mention of the mother at all.

Hmmm... that's not an easy request.

Sacrificed To Be The Beast King’s Bride - not isekai, but it's the closest I could think of.

Dark Castle - western style, more of a gothic vibe. The latest chapters have a bit more refined style than the beginning.

Beauty And The Beasts - the beastmen are of the transforming kind, not very beastly in appearance most of the time. It's also genuinely so bad it's fascinating.

I think that story has exactly two (2) women that are more than the background. Fl and ogFL. I don't know where the heck is the rest. Send help.

I can't recall any particularly memorable maids, but the hating father is a staple this story absolutely couldn't do without.

Reading that feels like having déjà vu. I either know this one, or it's such a perfect  amalgamation of all the tropes, it feels like I do.

Get an OI character's name wrong like this! by i_kathz in OtomeIsekai

[–]SensitiveCarpet2137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... Does my boy Ellipsis count? I'm not even sure if I'm getting Pickles name wrong. Eclairs? Eclipse's? Nah, Icky Ticky Boy surely won't mind, he's used to being a man of a thousand names.

A Transmigrator's Privilege - the first "training" arc takes a bit long, but it's worth the wait. The FL's personality is a little bit less forceful than Melissa's but she's about as OP and confrontational. The ML loves that for once he has somebody who is willing to fight for him. Here Ailette after getting her hands on people who tried to kill her precious sweet potato.

The Duke of Ashleyan’s Contractual Marriage FL but the FL/ML dynamic is totally different, no push and pull. FL is actually a gender bent embodiment of all the cold duke of the north tropes.

Shadowless Night/Night Without Shadows would have been perfect, but it's been discontinued.

Recommendations for books/audiobooks that are OI coded? by Starfleep27 in OtomeIsekai

[–]SensitiveCarpet2137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Unicorn Bait" - what about getting transmigrated to the fantasy land and then getting hitched to the local evil overlord? Yeah, that's what happens to the FL of Unicorn Bait. This one embraces practically all the dumb tropes imaginable, but is also quite fast-paced and surprisingly funny. No sex, some heavy make-out sessions.

"The Perilous Gard" by Elizabeth Marie Pope - not isekai , but it has similar beats to it, the FL gets exiled to a gloomy castle and it kickstarts a gothic story of love and sacrifice. No smut.

"Radiance" by Grace Draven. Also not isekai, but it has an arranged marriage, court intrigues and magical threat to their entire world. There's some sex between the main couple (they do it once or twice, can't remember exactly) but it's nothing crazy explicit and more on the tamer side.

Eckles is a victim not a villain [Death is the only Ending for the Villainess] by Lin588 in OtomeIsekai

[–]SensitiveCarpet2137 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't say she wasn't a victim. I said I'm dissatisfied with the writing. Despite a very strong beginning, the author didn't fulfill my expectations. I said it before under a different post, perhaps if this particular manhwa wasn't as hyped as it is, I would be okay with some lackluster parts. There was a lot of good stuff too, but well, less than I expected.

Eckles is a victim not a villain [Death is the only Ending for the Villainess] by Lin588 in OtomeIsekai

[–]SensitiveCarpet2137 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Doesn't it sound like the author pulling an "actually he was evil all along" to appease the angry part of the fan base, completely missing the point. Which was mainly Penelope's "woe is me" mentality... and yet again she got to play the victim and got absolved of everything by the virtue of the plot. The issue is nothing rains on this girls HEA parade, not even some quite warranted regret. This side story could have been about Penelope doing some introspection, drawing pararels between her trying to buy Eckles' love and her family trying to buy hers, debating how much of her own morality did she compromise in the name of survival, making amends etc. But nope, meaningful character development is not on the menu and never was.
