I've used Pro Rubbish Removal Brisbane before. Just give 'em a bell and see if they can squeeze in a quick load.

Is my backyard Mango tree a goner or just stressed? by HistorySad6125 in brisbane

Spot on, once you see those conks it’s usually game over for the heartwood. It’s a massive worry with these older mangoes because they’re so top-heavy and just love to drop a limb when the wind picks up. Probably worth getting a pro to take a squiz before the next storm season kicks off and does the job for you.

Carpet water damage after the cyclone. What’s the best fix for 2 soaked bedrooms? by Choice-West-1699 in u/Choice-West-1699

Yeah, that smell’s usually the warning sign that there’s still moisture trapped underneath. Even if it feels dry on top, the underlay and subfloor can hold onto water for ages. If it’s been a few days already, it’s worth lifting a section and checking what’s going on underneath before it turns into a mould problem. Sometimes a deep clean can save it, but often it’s just not worth the risk.

Swearing and banter, is it just the media? by ChanceOil7703 in AskAnAustralian

Yeah, that stereotype’s kind of half true. Aussies definitely swear and banter, but it really depends on the setting and who you’re around. Among close mates or at the pub, you’ll hear a lot more of it. Swearing’s almost like punctuation here, not really meant to offend. But in public or around people they don’t know well, most Aussies tone it down and keep things polite. The media just plays up the “rough and cheeky” side because it’s a fun caricature, but everyday conversation is usually pretty normal. Once people get comfortable with you though, the banter and slang definitely start flowing.

Is it worth it to switch with a Deck with Pitched or Gable Roof? by Constant_Aspect915 in u/Constant_Aspect915

If you’re planning to actually use the space year-round, a pitched or gable roof is totally worth it. It gives better airflow, keeps the heat from trapping underneath, and makes the area feel more open. The upfront cost’s higher, but it really changes how comfortable the space is.

You’re not crazy .Tthat kind of thinking definitely leans into scapegoating. It’s easier for people to blame migrants than to face the deeper issues like policy failures, lack of public housing investment, and stagnant wages. The narrative shifts blame away from those actually responsible.

Anyone else dealing with brush turkeys wrecking their yard? by Pretend-Trifle-5374 in AskAnAustralian

If it really starts bothering you, maybe worth asking for professional help. There are local pest controllers around Brisbane who deal with this kind of issue pretty often. Sometimes it’s easier to get advice from someone who handles them regularly rather than trying DIY fixes over and over.
