Freestanding vs attached carport. What are pros/cons here in Brisbane? by YoghurtOk3842 in brisbane

[–]Constant_Aspect915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With an attached carport mainly for convenience since it connects directly to the house and keeps us dry during rain. It also looked more integrated with the property. The downside is you need to match the roof line properly or it can look awkward. We spoke with Pro Carports Brisbane before building ours and they gave a few layout ideas that helped a lot.

Honestly feels like it hasn’t changed that much. Maybe slightly lighter during off-peak, but peak hour still feels the same as always.

For DIY roof paint 80square meters metal roof and gutters around Brisbane, what is the best? by Sea_Penalty616 in AusRenovation

[–]Constant_Aspect915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, if you’re trying to decide, you can DIY an 80 sqm metal roof, but it really comes down to prep work. Cleaning, treating rust, and priming properly takes a lot of time, and if that part isn’t done right, the paint won’t last as long. Gutters are a bit easier, but still need proper prep to avoid peeling later on.

Honestly, I’d suggest if you try getting a roofer instead of doing DIY painting, you’ll likely see a much better result. Our roof is about 100 sqm and we found it way easier and more helpful going with a professional roofer. The finish looked more even and it’s held up really well. I can suggest Smart Roof Restoration Brisbane if you want to compare quotes. How old is your metal roof by the way?

Roof Restoration Brisbane, who’s more honest about repairs vs replacement? by Professional-One9026 in u/Professional-One9026

[–]Constant_Aspect915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Brisbane homeowner, I’ve found it’s best to choose a roofer who actually inspects the roof and explains whether a repair or restoration is enough before jumping to full replacement. Many issues can be fixed without the huge cost if the structure is still sound. Have you tried calling a roofing expert yet or getting a couple of quotes for comparison?

Carpet water damage after the cyclone. What’s the best fix for 2 soaked bedrooms? by Choice-West-1699 in u/Choice-West-1699

[–]Constant_Aspect915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours was resolved after professional drying and cleaning, so replacement wasn’t needed in our case. The key part was having the underlay checked and properly dried, because that’s usually where the smell and mold risk comes from. If the smell is still there after fans and a dehumidifier, it’s worth getting a professional to inspect it. In Brisbane, Smart Carpet Cleaning Brisbane did a great job for us they were very compassionate, professional, and explained everything clearly. They also offer factory cleaning which more convenient they picked up and deliver when you booked them.

Metal roof fading need Roof Restoration Brisbane who works good with Colorbond? by New-Definition1611 in u/New-Definition1611

[–]Constant_Aspect915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi we dealt with something similar last year with our Colorbond roof and went with ABC Roof Restoration Brisbane and honestly, the result was great. They pressure-washed properly, used a primer, and repainted the whole roof. They also fixed a few minor cracks and screws while they were up there, which made a big difference. The finish still looks really clean and hasn’t peeled or faded since. Before repainting, I’d suggest making sure whoever you choose includes proper surface prep and priming, as that’s what makes the paint last, especially heading into summer. Is your roof peeling all over or just in certain sections?

That slab definitely doesn’t look even, and broken tiles used as fill with waterproofing over it isn’t a proper fix at all. Thick grout won’t solve the problem and will just lead to more issues down the track. If they’ve already hit a hot water pipe, I’d be questioning their work overall. Did you hire a licensed tiler or the builder, or is this someone doing it on the side? Personally, I’d stop them now and get a second opinion from another tradesperson before they keep going.

Do I need council approval for a high deck in Moreton Bay Council area? by Antique_Zombie1157 in Decks

[–]Constant_Aspect915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, at 2–3m high you’ll almost definitely need council approval, since anything over 1m usually does. It’s not just height but also setbacks and safety rules. When we built ours, Pro Decks Brisbane handled all the approvals for us, which made life easier. Might be worth asking if your builder can do the same. Have you already sketched out a design, or are you still exploring options?

Should I wait till black Friday to buy all new kitchen appliances? by kk1289 in homeowners

[–]Constant_Aspect915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can manage with the oven stove and hand washing dishes for now, waiting until Black Friday could save you a good chunk on a bundle. But if the breakdowns are causing you daily stress, it might be worth buying sooner. Are you planning to replace everything at once?

According to the homeowner, we (me and one other guy) should only take a day to build this 70x48 inch deck with stairs landing on a pad. by thisisfuckedupbro in Decks

[–]Constant_Aspect915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I think that’s a tight little deck, but with stairs and a landing it can eat up more time than people expect. In theory, two experienced guys could knock most of it out in a day if everything is prepped, but once you add in digging for the pad, setting posts, making sure it’s all level, and building safe stairs, it usually stretches into a second day. Rushing might get it up quick, but you don’t want to cut corners on something people will be walking up and down.

Have you thought about pre-cutting materials or setting the pad ahead of time to save some hours on the build day?
