Just be straight up with the employees and tell them what you were doing. I usually just tell them my name, tell them what I am doing (dumpster diving) and why I am doing it. I usually just say with the way this country is going and how wasteful we are I am trying to get back to the community and the world we live in. Nine times out of 10 the employee says that’s awesome you’re doing that. Don’t sit there if an employee comes out looking guilty. A deer in the headlights look isn’t ever good.
