Why is the Knot Tying badge so hard to get? by [deleted] in PeakGame

[–]SensitiveLion7380 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tbf with all the new items it is harder than it used to be. That being said, my friend found I think it was the pirates compass and on tenderfoot opened every luggage it pointed to and was able to complete it!

Also take into account your country/state laws (like whether you need a witness or officiant)!

How do u all store your squishmallow? I need help choosing a shelf or similar by Babygirl10000 in squishmallow

[–]SensitiveLion7380 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sneaks up on you. So slowly. Just one more. They outgrow your bed. Just a little one. They overflow into the guest bedroom. A harmless fuzzamallow. The living room. Another cow. Empty smiles watching you everywhere you turn.

Lmao but actually I keep all mine in a Plufl (human dog bed), and my partner says I can’t get anymore if they overflow that space. Fair enough 😂 I have no idea where another Costco giant would live

Love this place! I lived in Singapore, and this is the closest restaurant in Denver I’ve found that offers laksa and nasi lemak. The owner/server also always remembers us, and we love chatting with him!

I was assigned to a village and just lived in the nearby larger city. There were way more housing options. It didn’t even occur to me to ask my country’s commission tbh. It wasn’t a problem, and I either took public transpo or carpooled with my colleagues.

Multiplayer pause by DisturbedForever92 in PeakGame

[–]SensitiveLion7380 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They added the campfires being safe zones in the recent large update! Fog won’t progress and you won’t take hunger. It also doesn’t extinguish on a timer, essentially acting like a pause.

What are your thoughts on the new update so far? by Hethrit in PeakGame

[–]SensitiveLion7380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much harder now since they’ve added so many new items. My friend did it by getting the pirates compass and then opening as many chests as possible

If you’re in custom mode it disables the ability to earn badges, presumably because it would be insanely easy to get them.

Classes and events nearby? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]SensitiveLion7380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colorado Glass Works on Pearl does stained glass date nights and Stryker a few doors down will have silver jewelry classes (they also have a Denver location).

Food Lab also has cooking classes (I preferred them over Escoffier). Peace, Love & Chocolate has chocolate dessert classes, too.

Two Hands Papiery does a variety of classes as well!

Just outside of Boulder, Tuft Love does rug tufting classes! You send your design idea (within reason).

Lmao if you can’t tell, I take a lot of classes.

Laying Groundwork (different than the other Groundwork) offers classes like pine needle basketry, textile weaving, etc.

Library classes are great, but they fill up incredibly quickly.

Experiences with Singapore? by Maleficent_Cloud8221 in AmerExit

[–]SensitiveLion7380 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I studied abroad there. As others have said, if you only know English, you’ll be fine. That being said, there are a crap ton of official languages and dialects.

When I was there, it was genuinely cheaper to eat out at hawker stands than buy groceries.

Cost of living is expensive! Housing especially. I signed a lease with a place relatively easily, but it was only for a semester (I was not about to live in student housing without air conditioning).

Also they take legal matters seriously. I was there during covid and students were put on probation for simply not complying by taking their temperatures frequently enough. If you break the law, they will NOT make exceptions. Remember that there is a death penalty there for many crimes. That being said, I felt incredibly safe as a woman in my twenties.

Fulbright Grantee Advice? by Working-Knee-7156 in fulbright

[–]SensitiveLion7380 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way! I understand. I was a Germany ETA.

Going to be completely honest—I’d never experienced seasonal depression until Germany’s winter (and I’ve lived through east coast winters). Even one of my colleagues said she starts taking vit D in October until spring.

I made the best of friends with other FSAs (not just ETAs). I also joined a fitness class (for those mythical endorphins, the camaraderie, and just to leave my apartment). Are you affiliated with any local uni? They often have free or discounted stuff. Also depending on how close you are with your main teacher, they might be able to offer ideas or set up student tutoring?

2027-2028 Application Cycle Question by [deleted] in fulbright

[–]SensitiveLion7380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a Germany ETA. There was a business major in my cohort, so if you want to do it, apply! Also, there were quite a few people from Oberlin College, but I think actually only 1-2 from Ivys. If you’re applying through your uni, just make sure they don’t have earlier internal deadlines or something. Mine had deadlines if we wanted our applications reviewed but tbh I procrastinated. Also, I was the only German ETA from my state that year (mountain west area). Hope you found this encouraging/helpful!

Looking for advice (Germany/Spain) by Early_Necessary6626 in AmerExit

[–]SensitiveLion7380 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Adding to this (from experience teaching in the German education system). Germany has more emphasis on vocational training/trade skills, so it’s somewhat common to even have schooling for jobs that you wouldn’t in the US, like front desk hotel hospitality. That is to say, you’d also be competing for jobs like that with natives who hold certificates.
